Who Decides?

Image
So I decided to leave home at a particular time. Because the roads were clear, I arrived in central London way too early for work I decided to kill time by going for a long walk along this park. Then I decided to go into this church. The early church service had just finished. After taking some photos of the interior, I sat at the back of the church to enjoy the peace and quiet and read my Bible. I decided it was time to leave the church and continue my walk.  I decided to walk down this road and discovered this new garden. I took some photos. I decided to walk down this road which led to a road I was familiar with. I decided to stop off at two shops to buy some food and drink. I realised I was disoriented so I decided to walk in the opposite direction where I noticed this supermarket, which reminded me I was on the right track. I noticed this woman standing in front of me and grinning at me. I realised it was my work colleague. My colleague told me her bus had also arrived early a...

About Star Trek

Image
I've been a huge fan of Star Trek, which I've been watching since I was a kid. We are both celebrating our 60th year this year. As I see it, Star Trek represents accepting differences including race, politics, religion, cultures, philosophies, which is a noble view.  Some of the humanoids in the series even have interspecies relationships like a Ferengi falling in love with a  Cardassian. (See photo below). In the real world, my real world, I have friends who have different viewpoints and I accept their points of views.  However, when it comes to my inner circle, I prefer to fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ i.e have a relationship with Christ and be God-centred.   When it comes to relationships, in the past I have dated men based on race, cultural values or shared interests, but they haven't worked out because the spiritual core was always missing. It was like dating someone from a different dimension and the other was always trying to pull me into...

Love Never Changes

Image
Today, I met up with a dear friend at this pub. The last time I went to that pub was in the late 1980s.  It's been refurbished since then. I can't even remember what the original interior looks like. Things change, but love never changes.  Thank you, Lord, for good friends.❤️

Fancy Some Pizza?

Image
The other day, I texted a friend to arrange for us to meet up in the new year.  I suggested that I could treat her to pizza. I realised it was because I was craving for some pizza. Another friend was havng a minor procedure done. The medics suggested that he should have someone around him for 24 hours just in case, so he asked if I could be there with him. I said yes. So last night I went to my friend's house. He actually recovered quite quickly.  As he was very hungry, he asked if we could go to the local Turkish restaurant.  I told him I wasn't hungry, but I could bring whatevr I can't finish home.  Whenever I go to that restaurant,  I usually order  rice with chicken shish kebab. While I was browsing the menu,  I noticed they had pizza. I decided to order vegetarian pizza instead, which was delicious. So my pizza craving has been satisfied.  Thank you, God, for meeting that need. ❤️  ------ Relevant Bible verse: "But my God shall supply al...

In Everything Give Thanks

Image
I had planned to hang out with a friend on Christmas Eve, but I woke up with a sore throat so I decided to cancel. The sore throat rapidly developed into a cough and cold. I spent most of Christmas Day in bed. I didn't even have the desire to open my Christmas presents. As my flatmate hasn't been feeling well either, she was also lying low. She decided to make us Christmas dinner on Boxing Day and invite our neighbour.  I didn't join them, I had mine in my bedroom. While all the drama was going on externally, I was secretly reminding myself that on the cross, Jesus took on all sickness of all humanity and gave us His healing. This means I was and am already healed. Why is my body resisting that truth? Last night, while I was having a coughing fit, I reminded myself of a few Bible verses I have memorised. I was inspired to thank God. The Bible teaches that in everything give thanks. I believe when you're thanking God you are magnifying His presence in your experience.  W...

Choosing the Right Gifts

While I was thinking of what to get my friend for her birthday, I went into this store. I found the perfect card for her, which I knew she would find funny.  I decided to also get her a chocolate cake. As I was going through the confectionery section, I decided to get a box of chocolates for my flatmate. I had the idea to get her a box of Marzipans for a change. At another store, I decided to buy my birthday friend a bottle of wine as I know she likes wine.  However, as I'm not a wine connoisseur,  I was overwhelmed by their selection. I asked a member of staff, who was their resident wine expert, for ideas. I said I was looking for something sweet. She asked if I liked Rosé wine and I said yes, but I didn't know which one to get. She picked a bottle of Rosé and handed it to me. I thanked her for her help. Later when I gave my flatmate the box of Marzipans, she was overjoyed and said she loved Marzipans. I told her I wasn't aware she liked them as I usually buy her cho...

God's Timing is Perfect

"A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." Proverbs 16: 9 ----- After I finished my evening shift at this theatre, I stopped off at a store to get some grocery. I wondered if I should catch the tube home, but I decided to catch the bus instead. At the bus stop, I noticed a young man and woman. I noticed the woman was all wrapped up and shivering. I asked her if she was cold. She said she was from Kenya and not used to the cold weather. I told her she will still get used to the weather. When our bus arrived, I went upstairs. I was hoping to sit in front, but a passengr was already sitting on the right front seat. The left front seats were vacant, but I knew my Kenyan friends would enjoy those seats so I sat a few seats behind them. During the journey, the couple chatted to the passenger opposite. I heard them talking about a certain park, which I know very well.  The young man mentioned he had been showing his friend around London and even taken her to a mu...

Christian Friends

Over the last two days, I've had a catchup with two of my Christian friends. There's nothing like having Christian friends who edify one another. Thank you, God, for  my sisters-in-Christ. ❤️

God Never Stops Loving Us

Image
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8: 28 ----- I planned to attend the "God Loves You London Tour" with the American evangelist, Franklin Graham. It was meant to start at 6pm. I was hoping to get there around 6pm. My boss even let me leave work early which gave me enough time to arrive on time. It was then the obstacles started. First, all the tube lines I could have travelled on had severe delays. I decided to catch the bus into central London and then catch a train to the venue.  Second obstacle - the bus I needed to get to the train station terminated early. Apparently, it was because of some demonstration in town. I tried another route. While I was waiting at the bus stop, I shared the bus timetable with another passenger. We ended up travelling on the bus together and had a nice chat. Before I got off, I asked her name. It turned out she and I had the same name...

Friends Reunited

"A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." Proverbs 16: 9 ---- I was booked to work at this corporate event where they were expecting 30,000+ visitors. There were 250+ agency staff at the event. I was looking forward to seeing old friends I've worked with. Here's how it all unfolded. The names I am using are not their real names. The first friend I thought of was "Mary." I wondered if I would see her. Training Day Before a big event, we are briefed about the show and some staff are given training. While we were all walking to the training room, someone called my name. It was a colleague I've worked with from another agency that specialises in museums, theatres and galleries. I told her I didn't know she was registered at this events agency. She reminded me that I had given her their contact details and this was her first job with them. We sat together.  There was a vacant chair in front of me. Even though the room was filli...
