Walking with God

When I noticed this boy had been sitting on his own in the corner of the gallery for quite a while, I went over to him and asked him where his parents/adults were. He said he didn't know. After asking his age, I reported the matter to my duty manager.  My manager came down to chat to him to get more information about his mum.  She also asked security and all staff to look out for her.  When the boy's mum finally turned up, my manager came to speak to her. She told the boy's mum that we were worried about her son being left alone and she should not leave him on his own next time. I was really impressed how gentle my manager was with the boy's mum. I wouldn't have been so gentle.  It got me thinking of the nine fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5: 22). Before I went out, I was meditating on angels. According to the Bible, angels act out the Word of God or obey God's commands. (Psalm 103: 20-21) In other words, contrary to popular belief, you can't just command God's angels to do your bidding, unless you're dealing with Satan who can pass himself off as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14) In one example in the Bible, when King Hezekiah of Israel asked God to help him against King Sennacherib of Assyria, an angel of the Lord was sent to an Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 men.  (2 Kings 19: 35) That's how powerful one angel of the Lord is. Hours later, while I was waiting for a bus, I was busy replying to an email on my phone. I was so focused, I missed my bus. A woman sitting next to me at the bus shelter whispered to me to be careful as she believed a man was watching me.  I thanked her for her concern and put my phone away. While I was taking a walk along this canal path, the path  ended abruptly. When I got back on the road, I asked this young lady if she knew how I could reconnect with the canal path. She said she didn't.  As I was about to walk down another road, her boyfriend beckoned to me and pointed the right direction. Another man joined us and gave me directions. I thanked both men for their help.  I am so used to People Map, I have forgotten I can use the map on my phone. I prefer People Map as it's a lot more civilised. ❤️ I decided to continue the rest of my journey by bus. 😊

When this man walked into the shop I was working in to browse, I asked him if he was okay.  He told me the online map he was using had sent him in the wrong direction and had added an extra 20 minutes to his journey. "I know how you feel. Sometimes I do get lost following that map," I said. "I never got lost when I used to use the A to Z map. Now I use People Map." "What do you mean by people map?" he said. "Asking people for direction." "Do people actually help?" "Yes, all the time. People are so helpful." "I could have saved myself a lot of time if I had asked someone for help then." "Yes," I said. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." ----- Last night I dreamt about my ex-boyfriend who is now a very good friend. In the dream, I was upset with him for not being there for me and forgetting my birthday.  When I woke up, I thought the dream was really silly.  Why would I care whether he forgets my birthday?  Besides, even though, we haven't been together for almost 10 years, he always remembers my birthday. This morning, I received a text from the same friend. He told me he recently had a minor operation and was recuperating at home.  He asked if I was available to visit him. I told him I was busy doing my laundry, but I could visit him in the afternoon, as he only lives about half an hour away from me by bus. He asked me to visit the next day instead if I was still available. Now it made sense why I had had that nonsense about my friend. I guess when you've known someone for 30 years, you're bound to be able to pick up on their vibe...
