In Everything Give Thanks
I had planned to hang out with a friend on Christmas Eve, but I woke up with a sore throat so I decided to cancel. The sore throat rapidly developed into a cough and cold.
I spent most of Christmas Day in bed. I didn't even have the desire to open my Christmas presents.
As my flatmate hasn't been feeling well either, she was also lying low. She decided to make us Christmas dinner on Boxing Day and invite our neighbour. I didn't join them, I had mine in my bedroom.
While all the drama was going on externally, I was secretly reminding myself that on the cross, Jesus took on all sickness of all humanity and gave us His healing. This means I was and am already healed. Why is my body resisting that truth?
Last night, while I was having a coughing fit, I reminded myself of a few Bible verses I have memorised. I was inspired to thank God. The Bible teaches that in everything give thanks. I believe when you're thanking God you are magnifying His presence in your experience.
When I woke up this morning (27 December), I felt more energised and stronger. I was now feeling very excited about opening my Christmas cards and lovely gifts I had received from friends. I even had the energy to put the rubbish and recycling outside in our communal bins.
I then heated the Christmas dinner leftovers that my flatmate had left for me. This time, it tasted even more delicious than the previous day as I was now in a state to enjoy it.
It was then I realised that gratitude also helps you to receive and enjoy God's goodness including His healing.
Thank you, God, for Your constant goodness and mercy. ❤️
