Maturing in Christ

Image
Thank you, Jesus for giving me Your life. ✝️❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”  Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."" John 3: 3-6 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." 2 Corinthians 5: 17 "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2: 20

About Tagging

While I was working at this event, I noticed this man who reminded me of someone I've worked with who I used to enjoy chatting to. I wondered how he was. The next day I received a  mysterious text from someone asking if I had applied to work at this particular company, as someone had told him I had. I told the person I hadn't and asked them to identify who they were as I couldn't see their name.  After giving me some clues I  realised it was the same work colleague I had thought of the night before. We used to be in a WhatsApp group so he obviously still had my number. I told him I had been thinking about him and wondering how he was.  As a Christian, I have the Mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16) which connects us all. I believe when I thought of my colleague, he got "tagged" and he had to find a way to get in contact one way or another. 😊 As a Christian, we have the Mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16) which connects us all. I believe when I thought of my collea...

Hello, Love!

When I woke up this morning, I was meditating on the love of God in Christ and that I live, move and have my being in His love. At the museum I was working at  today, I noticed this woman wearing a top with the word, "LOVE" in front of it. As she was walking by, she smiled at me and said hello. I said, "Hello Love." 😊 I live in and on Love. ❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verses: "for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’" Acts 17: 28 "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8: 38-39 "He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." 1 John 4: 8

Rooted and Grounded in Love

Image
Reminder to self: I am rooted and grounded in the Love of Christ. ❤️ "For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us," Ephesians 3: 14-20 Ps: I took this photo three years ago at St James's Park. I was actually focused on the pigeon. 😊

11: 11

(Previously posted on Facebook on 4.2.2023) "Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word." Psalm 103: 20 “Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” Ephesians 5: 14 ---- Many years ago when I was into the New Age, there was this obsession  about seeing 11:11, which I noticed quite a lot.  The belief among "light workers" was that whenever you see these numbers, it's a reminder from the angels to wake you up from your spiritual "sleep." As a believer in and follower of Christ, I know real angels of God do not operate that way, they act only on God's Word. (Psalm 103: 20)  So where did the belief in 11:11 as a sign to wake up come from? Well, in the Bible (Gospel of John chapter 11), Jesus is sent a message that his dear friend, Lazarus, is sick. Jesus waits several days before he decides to visit Lazarus (who by then was now dead and buried). This is what Jes...

Copycat

Image
Usually when my flatmate's cat, Zeus, is ready to come back in and the windows are shut, he sits outside and waits for one of us to let him in.  (We don't have a cat flap). One day Zeus had a cat brainwave: "I can make myself look bigger and more conspicious by sitting on the fence. That would grab my humans' attention." The first time I saw Zeus sitting on the fence, I was so startled I thought it was a black panther. Then I realised it was our little black panther, Zeus. Before going out, I went into the kitchen to get some drink. I noticed the local stray cat I have named Loudmouth sitting on the fence. He'd obviously been studying Zeus and thought he would mimic Zeus's behaviour to get our attention. While Loudmouth did get my attention and I took his photo, I had no intention of letting him in as he is a stray cat. When Loudmouth started coming round (after he had obviously been abandoned), I was going to call the local animal shelter to find him a ne...

About Identity

While I was browsing this news website on my phone, I noticed an article about this celebrity. The first few lines described him as a "mixed race, university drop-out, born into poverty." At that point, I lost interest and stopped reading. In the world, your identity is based on what you look like, your cultural heritage, your circumstance and your worldly achievements. How the world sees me is not my identity, my identity is based on my relationship with Christ as follows: I am a child of God. I am a citizen of the Kingdom of God. I am the righteousness of God in Christ. I am complete in Christ. I am the light of the world. I am an ambassador of Christ. I decided to attend a local church near home, which  I've only been to once before. The sermon was about how our identity changes when we accept Christ as our Lord and Saviour.  After the service, I spoke to the lay-preacher and told her I had been thinking of my identity in Christ. She said she was glad God was confirmin...

Making Room for Christ

Image
As I was finishing work early, I decided I was going to attend a church I've been going to in central London. When I got off at the wrong tube station, I wondered whether I should attend the church close by, but I was inspired to get back on the tube to the church I had in mind. As I still had about half an hour before the service started, I thought I'd get something to eat in the church's cafe, but the cafe was closed. So I went in the church and got a programme from the steward. It was then I realised it was the Advent Carol Service and the topic was "Making Room for Christ."   I sat at the back.  There were two women sitting next to me. After a few minutes, both women got up to leave and said they would come back later. This woman on the far side came and sat next to me and said she was going to keep me company. While we waited for the service to start, we shared our experiences. Later when the Reverend preached, he touched on what my companion was going throug...

There is Always Light Shining in Darkness

Although I was meant to start work at 2pm, I got up very early, had a meal and a shower. I planned to leave home around 12pm so I could arrive early and have time to look round the shops before I started work. While I was working on my laptop, I glanced at my phone and noticed a call coming through from my agency.  (I had the phone on mute so God must have inspired me to glance at it right at that moment). My agency asked if it was possible for me to go in early as someone was off sick. I said I'd probably be able to arrive around 11.45am. I got the bus to the nearest tube station. There was already a train on the platform, which was packed full. When I walked down, I managed to find a seat. Soon an announcement came on that there had been a "passenger incident" on the line (a euphemism used when a passenger jumps in front of a train). They said the train was being held on the platforn until further notice. We were advised to use alternative routes to our destinations. ...

In Christ Alone

Image
1 In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength, my song; this Cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace when fears are stilled, when strivings cease; my Comforter, my All in All; here in the love of Christ I stand. 2 In Christ alone who took on flesh; fullness of God in helpless babe. This gift of love and righteousness scorned by the ones He came to save; 'til on that cross as Jesus died the wrath of God was satisfied; for ev'ry sin on Him was laid; here in the death of Christ I live. 3 There in the ground His body lay; Light of the world by darkness slain. Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory, sin's curse has lost its grip on me; for I am His and He is mine, bought with the precious blood of Christ! 4 No guilt in life, no fear in death; this is the pow'r of Christ in me. From life's first cry to final breath, J...

His Yoke is Easy and His Butden is Light

Image
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30

My Identity is in Christ

An old friend invited me to her place for lunch and a catch up. Although we attended the same secondary school in Sierra Leone, I wasn't friends with her then as she was in the year below me. Years later, we met in London when she came to look at a vacant room to rent in a shared house I was living in. Although we eventually became friends, we went through a phase when we lost touch for many years, but one day we literally bumped into each other on a tube platform. I later found she had been living in a flat right opposite the house I last lived in. At the moment, she lives about 20 minutes walk away from me. It just shows some people are meant to be in your life forever. Anyway, while I was at my friend's house, she said, "You know, you are the most Un-African African person I  know." "What do you mean?" I said. "You're just so different from any of the African people I know," she said. "People look at me and know I'm African. I ...

On Being an Ambassador

Before we start working at a venue, we are briefed about the venue and what is expected of us. If it's a client that offers a long term contract, the client will ask qualified agency staff to go for formal training. When it comes to the job, whether you're hosting an event or invigilating an art gallery, you are always representing both the client and your agency. When you are representing the client or duty/event manager, you are there to ensure visitors have a great experience while still protecting the art, contents and venue. You also have the authority to implement the rules of the client.  In other words, you are the eyes, hands and feet of the duty/event manager. If you have any issues that you can't resolve, you have to contact the duty/event manager for advice, support or ask for their intervention. When we are representimg our agency, we have to make sure we turn up on time, dress in the appropriate uniform and be professional at all times. In the same respect, as...

Now is the Time for Peace

Image
I had an evening shift at this theatre. Because of the tube strikes, I was inspired to leave earlier than usual as lots of people are going to be travelling by bus. I planned to travel by bus. From the last stop, I can walk the rest of the way, which takes about ten minutes to the theatre.  During the bus journey, I could sense the tension around me. I had a knowing that now is the time to stay in my peace, the Peace of God, no matter what. I was reminded of a passage in the Bible that teaches us to let go of all bitterness and anger and forgive as Christ has forgiven us. (Ephesians 4: 31-32)  The bus driver announced that he was no longer going all the way. I decided to get off at this place called Camden Town and wait for the next bus or the alternative bus route that was going to my destination. When the next bus arrived, it was also only going part of the way. Ditto the next bus. There was no sign of the alternative bus route either. This couple I was chatting to tol...

Christ is My Everything

Image
Since I gave up the notion of having my own personal life and accepted Christ as the only life (Colossians 3: 4), I now understand that His Life covers everything I need to enjoy life now and forever. Christ's Life includes abundance, blessing, deliverance, forgiveness, freedom, grace, healing, joy, love, peace, perfection, protection, provision, redemption, relationships, salvation, truth, wholeness and wisdom. For instance, two days ago, my flatmate texted me to let me know they had been given food at work and she was going to bring me some chicken noodles. She even brought me some chocolate cake.  In other words, the food I received from my flatmate is Christ's Life as provision. I had half of the cake and kept the other half and the chicken noodles in the fridge. Today  I had the chicken noodles and cake and it was delicious. Thank you, Lord, for being everything I need.  ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His h...

God’s Unlimited Power

I was chatting to my friends about how to save power on our phones. I said before I go to sleep, my phone is usually fully charged. I've noticed when I wake up in the middle of the night to check the time on my phone, the battery  power is no longer 100%.  I believe it's because my phone automatically backs up data when the phone is idle, which requires power.  I had a theory that if I switched off the wifi, the phone will not be able to backup, as it needs wifi to do so. Last night, I tested that theory.  Before I went to bed, I turned off the wifi on my fully charged phone to see if I can save power that way. After a while I checked my phone's power and noticed the battery was slightly depleted. It was then I remembered that the moment I switch off the wifi, the 5G network kicks in, which is faster than the usual wifi. As London has a wide coverage of 5G, I have constant access to the Internet wheher my wifi is switched on or not.  The only way to save power i...

Another Year, Another Birthday

Image
Today, I am celebrating another birthday, another year around the sun. I have been thinking about what that means to me, here and now. When you "lose" your loved ones, like your earthly parents, mortality starts becoming very real, whether you believe in it or not. Unless...unless you know whose you are and who you are in Christ. I know I belong to Christ and my identity is in Him. Christ is my life. For me, birthdays are no longer measured by how many trips I've made around the sun, humanly speaking,  but about how deep my faith in God has grown and is growing. Thank you, Lord, for giving me Your everlasting life forever. Amen. ❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verses: "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine." Isaiah 43: 1 "Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new cr...

How to Kill Time

The Bible teaches us that we become what we think. In a lot of my jobs, I have a lot of downtime.  For instance, while I was invigilating at this art gallery, I had lots of downtime.  I killed time by repeating the following truth declarations to myself about my identity in Christ. Christ lives in me (Galatians 2: 20) I am complete in Christ (Colossians 2: 10) I am the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5: 21) I have the Mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2: 16) Thank you, God, for giving me jobs where I can kill time by meditating on the Scriptures. ❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verses: "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23: 7 "For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ." 1 Corinthians 2: 16 "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5: 21 "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit...

I Am Not, I Am

Reminder to self: I am not my: age, body, class, creed, culture, emotions, financial status, gender, genes, hobbies, intellect, job, marital status, nationality, past, qualifications, race, religion, sexuality, skin colour, social media followers, star sign or any of the many human beliefs. I am a Christian.  This means: I believe in Christ I follow Christ  I live in Christ  I walk in Christ I am complete in Christ I am the righteousness of God in Christ I have the Mind of Christ  ---- Relevant Bible verses: “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." Matthew 6: 31-33 "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives...

Wallpaper

The images I use as wallpaper on my phone and laptop are reminders of who I am in Christ. I download the image from Google and then add the equivalent text. Here are a few examples. Have fun creating your own. 😊❤️
