Asking God for a Film Festival Shift

Every year, around this time, there is the London film festival. I always like working on at least one day of the festival, but it all depends on whether I can get a shift or not. Usually, permanent staff at the theatre hosting the festival are gven priority and the remainder of the shifts are allocated to agency staff. So I asked God to give me an opportunity to work at the festival.  I soon received an email for some shifts at another venue. I responded to say I was available.  My agency got back to me to let me know those shifts were no longer available, however,  she could offer me a shift at another venue...the one that was hosting the film festival. I said yes. On the day of my shift, I notced I was the only agency staff. I was allocated a shift working in the cloakroom, but I asked the duty manager to swap my position. I ended up working inside the theatre. I did get to see one film, but it wasn't my cup of tea. At least I did work in the festival. Thank you, God, ...

Neo

While I was having a chat/banter with a colleague at work, he told me I don't seem to live in the matrix (as inspired by the movie of the same name). In jest, I said to him, "I am the one and only Neo."   On the bus this morning, I noticed this van with the word "Matrix" on it. I took a photo and sent it to my colleague.  Yup, I am Neo. 😊 Actually, all born-again Christians are Neos in Christ. They live in the world, but they are not of the world. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world." John 17: 15-16 Photo of the van.  The Matrix film poster is from Google Images.

Time versus Timeless

I watched the film, Mission Impossible 2 again, which I've seen many times. It is one of my favourites of the Mission Impossible films. One scene I've always found fascinating is the part where Ethan and Nyah's cars almost collide and everything is in slow motion.  We see Nyah desperately steering her car which is out of control. Ethan is also steering his car beside her. Nyah's car ends up near a cliff and Ethan then rescues her. From Ethan's and Nyah's perspectives, time slows down. However, to anyone observing the near miss, it all happened really fast. That scene reminds me of the time when I was nearly run over by a single decker bus.  Just as the bus was about to hit me, time seemed to slow down. I had all the time in the world to twist my body away from the bus, retrieve my slipper from underneath the bus, and then ran to catch the double decker bus behind. It was only after I sat down that I was able to process what had just happened.  I reckon to someon...

Love This!

For the last month, the film channel has been showing the film, "The Devil Wears Prada" at least once a week  and I always watch it when it's on.  The song "Suddenly I See" is featured in the film.  I love the film and the song. ❤️

Loving Your Neighbour

I've never met my neighbour who lives next door before.  Apparently, she is now 101 years old and no longer goes out. She has carers who come to check up on her. Another neighbour visits her. I can usually tell what my neighbour is watching on telly as she has the TV on really loud. I've just heard a familiar theme tune that sounded very much like Bond. I checked out the TV guide and sure enough, it was "You Only Live Twice" with Sean Connery. I'm watching it now, with her.  That's one way to connect with your neighbour. 😂❤️ Photo courtesy of Google Images

"All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all."   Cecil Frances Alexander ----- As I was relaxing in bed and about to watch a RomCom film (Notting Hill) on my laptop, I felt something land on me.   It was a ladybug. 🐞  How wonderful! I have no idea how it got in my bedroom or what it was trying to say to me.  After showing it to my flatmate, I carried it to the kitchen and took a photo. I then let it out in the garden.  I hope it's going  to be okay, as it's cold out there compared to my warm and toasty bedroom. 😂 Thank you, God, for creating this beautiful creature. ❤️                  My ladybug friend ❤️      All Things Bright and Beautiful

Indiana Jones

Today, I was working as a host at three graduation ceremonies from the same university. At the end of each ceremony, the orchestra they had on stage played the theme song from the film, "Indiana Jones", composed by John Williams. By the end of my shift, I had that song stuck in my head. On the way home, I stopped at this restaurant to get some food then walked to the bus stop  As the bus I wanted got cancelled, I decided to travel a different route, which took a lot longer.  When I finally got home, I had a quick shower. I then turned on my laptop to watch some mindless TV on this film channel. Guess what film they had on? "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Very funny, God! 😂 Of course, I had to watch it again, even though I've seen it a zillion times. I never get tired of Indiana Jones films or that theme song. ❤️
