Why It's Better to Remain Silent
At this museum I was working at, I noticed a visitor carrying a tote bag with the words: "Who do you belong to?" I read the words out loud to her. She said the line was from a book they had both read, meaning the young man she was with. "Who do YOU belong to?" I said. "That's a very philosophical question we've been thinking about," she said. I didn't say anything further, and walked away. To me, that's not a philosophical question at all. I know who I belong to: God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. When I finished my shift, I had a quick chat with a colleague. She said she'd noticed that since she got into her 50s, her body no longer operates the way it used to.
