Walking with God

Four years ago, I was forced to buy a new phone as my old one stopped working and it was way too expensive to have it fixed.   I recently noticed my current phone has not only slowed down considerably, the battery is draining very quickly and it is not compatible with a few of the apps I use. I am now required to use apps to book jobs and to clock in/out. Some jobs even require you to join a WhatsApp group which drains the battery.  I've had to buy a new phone that can take the heavy load of work requirements. At the phone shop, I asked if they could set up the phone for me. They were happy to do so for a small fee, of course. It took ages for the transfer of data from my old phone to the new one.  When I checked the app that I use to book jobs, it wasn't working even though it was installed on the new phone. I told the shop staff that it's imperative that I have access to that app. I then asked him to call my new phone to test that it works. The call didn't come thr...

While I was at work, I saw this baby in a buggy playing with a smartphone. I said to my colleague, "Wow, kids start really early with technology these days." "It's because of Ms Rachel," he said. "Never heard of her," I said. My colleague told me Ms Rachel is a children's TV entertainer for babies and toddlers and she's huge on social media. He said if I had young kids, nieces and nephews, I would know about her. I told him my nephews are in their twenties and thirties. I believe like all technology, AI is a tool that I can use to express and share the love of God. I asked a gpt app to create an image of me being loved by the Lord. (I provided a photo).  This was what came out. (See photo below) I love it.  Jesus loves me. ❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verses: "He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." 1 John 4: 8 "We love Him because He first loved us." Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of technology, but I also believe they should be used to glorify God not used to mimic or replace God.   Caution is advised in their use. Here's a very interesting video about why we should be cautious about AI.

At the staffroom, I was chatting to a colleague about AIs.  I said it's amazing how many people are trusting in AIs to run their lives. My colleague said instead of booking tickets through the museum's website, some visitors have been using AI apps to book tickets for the exhibition and they end up either booking the wrong tickets or being given the wrong information. Later, while I was invigilating at a gallery in the same museum, I asked visitors to carry their rucksacks in front to avoid hitting the contents. When I asked this man and he put his ruckdack in front of him, the alarm on his phone went off. He told me what the alarm on his phone meant. Apparently, because he was no longer carrying his rucksack on his back, the device had sounded the alarm as it "thought" he had fallen on his face. 😊 AI apps and technology are useful tools, but we must always remember that they are fallible just like their human creators. Every morning, except Saturdays, when I wake up, I turn my laptop on to watch this Christian channel on the Internet before I go to work. If I'm not working, I still have it on. I don't watch on Saturday as they don't show the programmes I like watching.7 In the good old days,  it used to take about 10 minutes to log into a computer. Now it takes less than a minute to enter my password, open the search engine and then open the website.I still think that's way too long. Lord, I would like my laptop to open at the speed of thought. Am I expecting too much? 😂
