There is Always Light Shining in Darkness
Although I was meant to start work at 2pm, I got up very early, had a meal and a shower. I planned to leave home around 12pm so I could arrive early and have time to look round the shops before I started work.
While I was working on my laptop, I glanced at my phone and noticed a call coming through from my agency. (I had the phone on mute so God must have inspired me to glance at it right at that moment). My agency asked if it was possible for me to go in early as someone was off sick. I said I'd probably be able to arrive around 11.45am.
I got the bus to the nearest tube station. There was already a train on the platform, which was packed full. When I walked down, I managed to find a seat. Soon an announcement came on that there had been a "passenger incident" on the line (a euphemism used when a passenger jumps in front of a train). They said the train was being held on the platforn until further notice. We were advised to use alternative routes to our destinations.
A lot of us got off to catch a bus to another tube station about three miles away. I also called my agency to let them know I was being delayed.
After I finished speaking to my agency, I thought about the victim. S/he must have been in such a dark place to think suicide was their only option. In the past when I've been in that dark place, it was my love for my mum that stopped me as I didn't want to cause her pain.
I sent blessings to the tube driver who must have been feelimg traumatised, the victim's loved ones, all the passengers whose journeys have been affected, London transport staff, and emergency services staff. As for the victim, I could only pray for God to have mercy on their soul. God only knows where their soul is going to end up.
During the bus journey, I chatted to this man next to me who had also been on the tube. He said he was on his way to a train station in Central London to catch a train out of London where he lives. He said he wasn't used to travelling by bus so at least he was getting a view outside. I shared with him that I had been thinking about how the victim's action had affected thousands. I told him I was praying for everyone. Before we got off the bus, we wished each other a safe journey.
May the lLght of Christ light up anyone who is going through darkness.
Peace to all! ❤️
