My Real Identity Never Expires

As a born-again Christian, my identity is in Christ, but the world would have me believe otherwise. For instance, my ten year passport, which I use as my legal ID, expired recently. I soon received an email from a casting agency, I am registered with, to remind me that my proof of ID has expired and needs updating.  When I got in contact with the agency and told them that I am in the process of renewing my passport, they told me the out of date passport will suffice as proof of my right to work until I get my new one. They told me I may continue to receive reminders from their automated system. What if I had told my agency that as my identity is in Christ, God has gven me the right to work anywhere I choose? They might think I'm nuts and remove my name from their books. 😆 Actors playing different roles know they are not their characters. In the same respect, my human identity is a character I am playing which comes with the equivalent props like my passport and my own unique natio...

My Perfect Banana

Image
When I woke up this morning, I thought: "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118: 24 Before I went to catch my second bus to work, I stopped off at the local supermarket to buy a croissant and a banana. I can be very fussy when it comes to buying bananas. I prefer bananas that have no marks on them inside and out. Sometimes, I go through all the bunches of bananas to find my perfect one. Today, I didn't have to as I found one instantly. I even shared my joy with the shop assistant and he agreed with me that it was a perfect looking banana. When I peeled it, it was just the way I like my banana - no marks; neither too hard nor too soft; and not too sweet. It was perfect. Thank you, Lord, for your constant provision including  my perfect banana. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verse: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."...

Empty Bus

Image
When I got on the bus, the driver said  "Enjoy your empty bus!" I smiled at him and said "thank you!" He was right, there was only me and the driver on the bus for a few minutes until two more passengers got on.  Thank you, God, for our London buses. ❤️ Photo of the empty bus

Job Satisfaction

I noticed this robot cleaner at Charing Cross station. It looks like it's enjoying its job. 😆

Not a Fan Then

I've been looking after my flatmate's cat while she's away. While Zeus was keeping me company in my bedroom, I started playing a music video and was dancing to it. Zeus gave me this horrified look and quickly ran out. I'm not sure if he was offended by my singing or dance moves.  I reckon he was thinking, "Don't give up the day job!" 😆

What RIP Means to Me

Whenever people hear that a "high profile" person has died, social media becomes flooded with RIPs i.e. Rest in Peace. What does RIP really mean? As a Christian, I believe in the afterlife. Jesus, who we follow, teaches us that those who have received Him as their Lord and Saviour will live with Him forever and those who don't will live with the other guy,  the devil, in hell forever. Either way, we all get to live forever. In the Bible, we are told Jesus was crucified with two criminals.  While one mocked Jesus, the other acknowledged Jesus' innocence and divinity. That criminal had such faith in Jesus, he repented and asked Jesus to remember him in His kingdom. Jesus granted the man's request. (See Luke 23: 39- 43) In other words, before the criminal died, he was saved and his sins were forgiven.  He is now living with God in heaven forever. The criminal's conversation with Jesus on the cross reminds us that it's never too late to call on the Lord and be...

It's Not Even My Birthday!

Image
A week ago, I was inspired to buy a friend a gift. When I gave him the gift, he said to me, "But it's not even my birthday!" To my friend, love is transactional; you do something good if someone has been good to you. Why should you receive a gift for no good reason at all? I explained to him what grace is. I said grace is receiving favours you don't deserve, but he didn't get it. I understand perfectly where my friend is coming from because I used to live in his world. In that world what you receive is based on merit, how hard you have worked and how lucky you are.  As Christians, we are saved,  blessed, protected and healed not because of our good works, but because of Jesus' death and resurrection. In other words, God pours His blessings on us and through us because of Jesus Christ. I am now not only open to receiving unmerited favours, I  see God's favours as natural. That doesn't mean I take God's favours for granted. I acknowledge every good g...

Guard Your Hearts

When I went to read this online newspaper, the main headline was that this actor I used to watch in this comedy in the 1980s had passed away.   It was such a shock, I immediately felt a lurch in my heart. I quickly reminded myself that I have the Mind of Christ and felt peace. From that place of peace, I read a few articles about the actor. I even looked at social media and read tributes to the actor. That's why the Bible teaches believers to guard their hearts with the Word of God as what we let in will affect our hearts.   Peace to the actor's family and loved ones.  ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Proverbs 4: 20-23, NIV "For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But ...

I Am Not, I Am

Reminder to self: I am not my: age, body, class, creed, culture, emotions, financial status, gender, genes, hobbies, intellect, job, marital status, nationality, past, qualifications, race, religion, sexuality, skin colour, social media followers, star sign or any of the many human beliefs. I am a Christian.  This means: I believe in Christ I follow Christ  I live in Christ  I walk in Christ I am complete in Christ I am the righteousness of God in Christ I have the Mind of Christ  ---- Relevant Bible verses: “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." Matthew 6: 31-33 "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives...

God is No Respecter of Persons

Image
A few months ago, I went to visit a friend at his house. Before I left, he gave me some homemade vegetable curry to take home. I promised to return his container. After a few months passed, I arranged to visit the same friend again at his house. I was going to take his container, but I didn't want to return it empty. I thought it would be nice to have some food in it, but I wasn't in the mood to cook. I will just have to return his container another time. When my flatmate came home from work, she told me our neighbour had given her a bag full of plums she had picked from the plum tree in our communal garden. When my flatmate shared some of the plums with me. I told her I was going to give some of them to my friend.  The next day, when I went to visit my friend, I returned his container full of plums. I told him I wanted to return his container with food and God filled it with organic plums from our garden. I said I hope he liked plums. My friend told me he also has a plum tree ...

I am What I Think

The Bible teaches us that we are what we think or believe in our hearts. I also find when I think of a person I have an emotional bond with, I experience what they are going through. That used to happen a lot with my mum. I was constantly feeling her physical pain. At the time, I put up with it because I love her. A few weeks ago, on the way to work, I thought of a very good friend. I wondered how he was.  When I got off the bus, I noticed I was feeling pain around my heart. I knew it was because I had been thinking about my friend who has had heart issues in the past. As I was walking to work, I kept thinking about Jesus instead.  Within a few minutes, the pain had dissolved.  The same friend was actually in hospital recently as he was having heart pain, but it wasn't anything serious, thank God. I am what I think. When I meditate on verses in the Bible, I get to experience their truth in my life. When I think of Jesus, whose name is above all names, I experience His pow...

Thought of the Day

Do cats think or do they paws for thought? 😂 Photo of Zeus, my flatmate's cat. ❤️

Plum Tree

Image
Check this out - plums from the plum tree from our back garden. Thanks to my flatmate who picked  them up. I have never seen plums this small. They are delicious though. Thank you, God, for giving us this plum tree. ❤️

Holy Spirit's Guidance

"A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." Proverbs 16: 9 ---- I had arranged to meet up with an old friend on my day off so we could have a catch up. I did say to him, in jest, that I'm not coming out if it's too hot. One day when I was working at this arts shop, I bought something I thought my friend would find amusing. Two days later, I had this urge to call him to cancel our meeting as it was going to he too hot on that day. I was going to ask him if I could go round to his place now and give him the gift. I dismissed the thought. I then had another urge to call him, which I did. When my friend answered the phone, I could tell immediately from his voice that there was something wrong. I asked him if he was okay. He told me he hasn't been feeling well for the last four days and he was about to go to the hospital. As he's had heart issues before, it was the right decision for him. I asked him if he wanted me to accompany him. He said ...

God’s Unmerited Favour

When I saw this event job going, I applied for it. The agency told us the client was going to decide based on our portfolios. I presumed the client was going to look at our photos. As the event was for designers and fashion buyers, I thought I had no chance. I reckon they were probably going to pick very young and attractive staff to work at that event. I couldn't believe it when I received a text from my agency asking me to let them know if I could work on one day.  I decided not to go for it as I didn't want to work long hours in such hot weather. I believe I receive opportunities not because of my qualifications  experience or looks, but because of God's unmerited favour. Thank you, God, for your constant grace. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: “This  is  the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts." Zechariah 4: 6 "And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. ...

Speed of Thought

Every morning, except Saturdays, when I wake up, I turn my laptop on to watch this Christian channel on the Internet before I go to work. If I'm not working, I still have it on. I don't watch on Saturday as they don't show the programmes I like watching.7 In the good old days,  it used to take about 10 minutes to log into a computer. Now it takes less than a minute to enter my password, open the search engine and then open the website.I still think that's way too long. Lord, I would like my laptop to open at the speed of thought. Am I expecting too much? 😂

Spiritual Cause

Reminder to self: According to the Bible, which Christians study, everything, every action, every condition and every event has a spiritual cause. The cause is either good or evil; Jesus or the devil. That's why prayer is so important as it tackles the spiritual cause of the problem and seeks a spiritual solution, which is then made manifest in a physical form. I believe God is the only cause through Jesus Christ. ❤️ ----- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord."  Isaiah 54: 17 "All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made." John 1: 3 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." John 6: 63 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. ...

Having Fun at Work

Image
While I was working at this corporate event, they had a DJ playing dance music in the background. This was one of the songs they played. Of course, I had to dance to it. 😊 That's Millennials for you, they know how to work hard and party hard. That's why I enjoy working with them. 😊 Thank God for fun jobs. ❤️

God is the Healer

A healing testimony "For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord." Jeremiah 30: 17 ---- A few weeks ago, I noticed I had an itchy rash on my right hip. I thought I'd either been stung by an insect or my flatmate's cat, Zeus, had fleas. My flatmate told me Zeus was fine as he was getting his injections. On the way home from work, I stopped off at our local pharmacist to see if I could get a topical lotion for the rash. The pharmacist took me to a quiet room to examine the rash. She told me I had Shingles. I told her I didn't know what it was. She borrowed my phone to take a photo of the rash. She then showed me similar photos on the Internet. She said she's had Shingles before and it can get really painful. She told me I was going to need antibiotics to get rid of the infection. I told her I don't take medication.  She suggested I could still use a lotion for the rash. I thanked her for her advice. I said I would pray...

Spiderman

At the tube station, I saw this busker wearing a Spiderman outfit playing a keyboard. He had a sign up stating that anyone wishing to take his photo or film his performance should scan the QR code and send money. I decided to pass. You can use a QR code for anything these days. I wonder if all the money collected is going to the creator of Spiderman? 😂

God Bless London

Today is the 7th of July.  On this day, twenty years ago (2005), London experienced a series of terror attacks on the bus and on the tube (underground trains) killing 56 people. On the morning of that day, my mum and I travelled by bus to visit her friend. I remember  all of us watching the news about the attacks on television. As I travel constantly by bus, my Internet friends were really concerned abut me. I reassured them  I was safe. My mum and her friend have long since passed away. God bless all those who lost their loved ones in those attacks. God bless our transport system. God bless London and all Londoners.  Peace to all! ❤️ Ps: My ten year passport actually expires today. When I receive my new passport, it will no longer have the 7th July date, it will have a new date..

About Angels

Before I went out, I was meditating on angels. According to the Bible, angels act out the Word of God or obey God's commands. (Psalm 103: 20-21) In other words, contrary to popular belief, you can't just command God's angels to do your bidding, unless you're dealing with Satan who can pass himself off as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14) In one example in the Bible, when King Hezekiah of Israel asked God to help him against King Sennacherib of Assyria, an angel of the Lord was sent to an Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 men.  (2 Kings 19: 35) That's how powerful one angel of the Lord is. Hours later, while I was waiting for a bus, I was busy replying to an email on my phone. I was so focused, I missed my bus. A woman sitting next to me at the bus shelter whispered to me to be careful as she believed a man was watching me.  I thanked her for her concern and put my phone away. She said if anything happens, she will call on God to smite them. I thought to mys...

About Dreams

After I heard the news that a footballer (from the football club I actually support) had died in a car accident, I felt sad for his family and loved ones, his football colleagues and all football fans of the club.   It reminded me of a university friend. When we met, she already had a baby and was living with her  boyfriend.  Despite the fact that she had many responsibilities, she was very disciplined and goal focused. She even had a 10 year plan. I had no responsibilities, but I still had problems submitting my essays in on time. 😊 After my friend finished her degree, she went on to do a Masters degree. Her boyfriend then went to university and did his degree. They ended up getting married, having two more kids, and emigrated to America, where her boyfriend was from. One day, I received a call from another university friend. She asked if I'd heard what had happened to our mutual university friend in America. I told her we had lost touch. (There was no social media...

Red Flag

Image
While I was walking in Highgate Wood, this couple walked past me. I heard her saying to him, "It's just trees, trees and more trees." "I take it she's not a fan of trees then?" I said to them and they both laughed. I can't see that relationship going the full distance if she doesn't appreciate his passion for trees. 😀 Some photos and a clip. ❤️

3333

Image
After I finished scanning my grocery on the self-checkout, I noticed the total amount, before  loyalty card discount, was £33.33.  Wow! Reminded me of Jeremiah 33: 3: "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’"  Thank you, God, for continuously showing me great and mighty things that I do not know. ❤️ Photo of the amount on the self-checkout.

God Knows Everything

Whenever I work at this exhibition centre, there are usually tens of thousands of visitors attending.  And yet, I always end up bumping into this particular friend, even when we are working at different events. It's like there is this magnet that draws us to each other. I bumped into her again today, but we couldn't chat as we were both on our way to work at different events, again.  Two months ago, a few of us worked at this museum. After I got booked to work there again over the school holidays, I wondered if one of my colleagues was going to work there as well. I was thinking of texting her to ask her. Today at the tube (underground) station, I literally bumped into the same colleague. I asked her if she was working at the museum again and she said yes. I was so amazed, I texted her later. I have also been wondering about these two train stations called Haringay Green Station and Harringey Station and whether they are close to each other. After I bumped into my colleague, I...
