Giving Comfort

Usually on a long bus journey, I sit upstairs. This time,  I decided to sit on the lower deck, right at the back. At some point, this woman got on and asked if she could sit where I was sitting as she had a painful knee. I  moved to the vacant seat next to her.  She kept muttering to herself about how people in London are not very caring. I had a feeling my travelling companion was not only experiencing physical pain, but emotional pain as well.  I said to her, "God bless you!" After making small talk, she opened up to me about a friend she had lost recently. She said after she called his mobile phone, he didn't call her back which was out of character. A few days later, her friend's death was announced on Facebook.  My friend said she couldn't understand how someone who was in such good health and only aged 55 could die so suddenly. She even showed me her friend's obituary, which had his photo. Both of us got off at the same stop. Before we parted company, I...

God’s Constant Protection

While I was topping up my travel card in this shop, this woman standing behind me told me that my bag was open. I thanked her and closed my bag. Thank you, God, for Your constant protection. ❤️

How Jesus Set Me Free From Suicide

I used to experience severe depression until God set me free. For years I was thinking about suicide, but I couldn't go through with it. I decided to give myself a reason to stay. I thought if I could love at least one person a day, I could delay suicide for 7 to 8 billion days. That was before I was saved. I was into the new age then. I had a major setback after I broke up with a boyfriend I was hoping to marry. At that time, I moved in with my mum. I was in such a dark place then. Although I was feeling suicidal, again, I loved my mum too much to go through with it. While I was living with my mum, who was a Christian, I would watch Christian programmes with her, but I still did my own thing.  I was spiritually attacked three times by this entity that was trying to kill me. At first, I defeated it with a Bible verse. The other times, I called on God to help me. After my mum passed, there was now no reason for me to keep on living as the person I loved the most was gone.  ...

My Copper Hair Twin

Image
When I look at trees, I see them showing off their elaborate  hairstyles. 😀 One time I saw this tree and part of its hair colour was copper, just like mine at the time. I thought to myself, if I were to grow my hair it would look exactly like that tree. Exactly, seven days later, I went for a fitting for the film, "Wicked." The wig that Hair and Makeup had selected for me had the same colour as the tree and my hair. It even had the same texture. When I showed my tree photo to the hairstylist, she was amazed at the similarity. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to take a photo of my hair and makeup.  I haven't seen the film either.😊 God is wonderful! ❤️ Here are photos of me and my twin taken at Waterlow Park at Highgate

About Being Connected

Image
I've finally realised why I love trees because they remind me of what it's like to be connected to and trust in God. Because trees are connected to their source, they are constantly being supplied with all the nutrients and energy they need which make them so vibrant and authentic. I believe that's why everything trees do is so effortless. Deciduous trees let go of their dead leaves effortlessly.  In early spring, new leaves sprout and fruits grow effortlessly. Evergreen trees remain the same regardless of the weather or season. Jesus told His disciples that if they abide in Him, they will bear much fruit.  He also said without Him, they can do nothing. (John 15: 5) What did Jesus mean by "without  Me you can do nothing"? Those who do not abide in Jesus or believe in Him as their Creator and Source are like bouquets of  flowers we buy at florists. Those flowers may look beautiful, but because they're no longer connected to their flower plants and have the plan...

Jesus Heals

As Christians, we are the light of the world (Matthew 5: 14) and we are to shine the light of Christ wherever we are and glorify God.  One time while I was working on this TV project as a supporting artist aka extra, I started experiencing loss of vision, symptom of a migraine attack. I hadn't had one in many years. I told a friend I was working with how I was feeling. She offered me medication, but I declined. I told her I needed to take time out to pray. I then quietly reminded myself that "By His stripes I am healed." (Isaiah 53: 5)   After about fifteen minutes, my vision was back to normal and there was no headache. My friend, a non-believer, marvelled over how quickly I had got well.  I told her God had healed me.  I was even able to do a scene where we had to run from an attack.I  Another time, when I was working at this art gallery, a colleague, who is Muslim, told me he was having pain in one arm and couldn't lift it. I asked him if I could lay my ...

Wrapped Around His Paw

Image
I used to tell my flatmate that she was spoiling her cat, Zeus. "You need to have boundaries." I saw myself as the strict auntie who gives him tough love.  I now find myself adjusting my routines around Zeus.  Zeus likes to go out at 5am. Sometimes, I'm up around 4am to use the toilet. The moment Zeus sees I'm up, he follows me to my bedroom and jumps on my bed for cuddles. After I pet him for a few minutes, I let him lie next to me while I try to go back to sleep. At 5am, he jumps off the bed signifying that he needs to go out. I have to get up and let him out. If I don't wake up to use the toilet, Zeus waits till 5am and then knocks on his mum's door to let him out. While I was changing my bedsheet and duvet cover, I was going to remove the bed cover, as it's getting too warm for it. I decided to leave the cover on for Zeus to lie on and do his kneading as he likes the soft texture. I'm already thinking that when my flatmate goes away, I will try to ...

Renewing Your Mind

At this art gallery I was working at, we all had radios to communicate with the duty manager (DM); and vice versa. At one point, I noticed two visitors walking by with heavy rucksacks. The last time I worked at that gallery, over a year ago, they had this policy where they asked visitors to either carry their rucksacks in front of them or beside them. I wondered whether they still had that policy. I thought about asking the DM. Suddenly, I heard the DM reminding the host team to ask visitors to carry their rucksacks in front of them.  I thought to myself, who needs a radio when you can communicate telepathically? 😀 It got me thinking that the quickest way to influence others, good or bad, is by thought because all minds are joined.   That's why, as Christians, we are asked to renew our minds with the Scripture so that we're no longer under the influence of the carnal mind and worldly beliefs. As you renew your mind, you get to know what God's will is. (Romans 12: 2) Than...

The Three Times

I have observed that there are three times - consensus agreement time, cultural time and God time. I was working as a host at this Bhangra concert. The official start time or consensus agreement time was 7.30pm. We kept reminding fans that the concert was about to start, but most of them paid no attention because they expected it to start late i.e. cultural time. There was this last mnute rush to get them in and show them to their seats. After the concert started, we were asked to only let fans in at the end of each performance, so we had to listen out for the applause. Some latecomers couldn't understand why they had to wait. While I was at the door, I explained that it is our policy to keep them waiting so we don't disrupt the performance. Some fans came out to get drinks at the bar and wanted to get back in, but I told them they had to wait until the next entry point.  The funniest thing was when this woman came out of the concert to get her friend to go in with her. I told ...

Variety is the Spice of Life

Image
Two weeks ago, I worked at an extreme metal concert, which was very dark. Last night, I worked at a Bhangra concert which was full of joy. Today, I'm working at an art gallery. I love how varied my job is. Thank you, God. ❤️ Photo of the Bhangra concert

Joy Makes My Job Easy

I work for various agencies. Every time I am booked at a client, I am representimg my agency. In truth, as a Chistian, I am actually representing Christ. I believe it is God who provides the jobs: health for me to be strong to work; public transport to get me to work; and the resources to enable me do the job. I was booked to work for two days as front of house at this large corporate event. Several of us had to scan visitors' badges as they came in. Although it's quite a simple job, it is quite physically demanding as you're standing up for hours (apart from when you're on your break). Because visitors keep coming in and out, you are constantly scanning, which can be very monotonous. I was inspired to do my job a different way. While scanning I addressed each visitor by their name. You should have seen the look of joy on their faces when I called their name. There were the odd names that  I couldn't pronounce. In those cases, I smiled and thanked them. I was now en...

God is So Good

Image
"For the Lord is good;" Psalm 100: 5 ---- When my flatmate came home from work, I told her I was waiting for the weather to cool down before going to the supermarket opposite to get some ingredients to make a sandwich for work. After a while, I didn't feel like going out.  I decided to buy a sandwich on my way to work. As I planned to leave home at 6am, I needed a store that opens very early. Our local supermarket doesn't open till 7.30am. I looked up the supermarket close to the tube station and discovered they are open at 6am. Aha, I'm going to get my sandwich from that store. Sorted! Right at that moment, my flatmate called out to me and asked if I wanted some smoke salmon to make a sandwich for work. I told her I didn't have any bread left. She offered me some of hers. I made a delicious smoked salmon sandwich. My flatmate also gave me a packet of crisps and a fruit and nut bar. God is so good. Thank you, Jesus! ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: ...

Love and Marriage

When you start dating someone, there is usually a point when both of you decide it's a serious relationship and you no longer wish to date other people. When you decide to get married, you're making a commitment to be with that spouse, for life. In the same respect, when we give our life to Christ, we are making a public statement that Jesus is our Husband and we are His bride. That means being totally committed to Jesus alone just as He is totally committed to us.   You get to know Jesus by studying the Bible. While you are studying, you are renewing your mind. (Romans 12: 2) You notice that you no longer think the way you used to.  Day by day, your life is transformed and you get to live Jesus' abundant life.  Unlike human marriage, there is no divorce in Christ. You are married to Him forever. I have never been married in the human sense, but I am married to Jesus Christ.  It's the best relationship ever. ✝️❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verses: "And anothe...

Dailly Reminder of God's Love

I use the calendar on my phone to remind me of dates that are important to me and upcoming birthdays of loved ones. Some dates only occur once and others occur every year forever. So I thought, why not use the calendar to remind me, every day, of God's love, forever? Now, every morning, I receive the following reminder: ---- God is good. (Psalm 100: 5) God is love. (1 John 4: 8) God is great. (Psalm 95: 3) God is for me. (Romans 8: 31) God is faithful. (1 Corinthians 1: 9) Thank you, God, for being my everything. (John 14: 6; Philippians 4: 19) ----- I love my smartphone and all the apps. Thank you, God, for my phone! ❤️

Time versus Timeless

Image
I watched the film, Mission Impossible 2 again, which I've seen many times. It is one of my favourites of the Mission Impossible films. One scene I've always found fascinating is the part where Ethan and Nyah's cars almost collide and everything is in slow motion.  We see Nyah desperately steering her car which is out of control. Ethan is also steering his car beside her. Nyah's car ends up near a cliff and Ethan then rescues her. From Ethan's and Nyah's perspectives, time slows down. However, to anyone observing the near miss, it all happened really fast. That scene reminds me of the time when I was nearly run over by a single decker bus.  Just as the bus was about to hit me, time seemed to slow down. I had all the time in the world to twist my body away from the bus, retrieve my slipper from underneath the bus, and then ran to catch the double decker bus behind. It was only after I sat down that I was able to process what had just happened.  I reckon to someon...

Healing at the Name of Jesus

While I was watching this Christian video about healing,  I started having a toothache. I commanded the pain to leave in Jesus' name, but it got worse. I reminded myself that on the cross, Jesus bore all of our sickness and by His stripes, I am already healed. (1 Peter 2: 24) I ignored the pain and continued watching the video. The pain was now getting so severe, it was distracting me from the video. I'm not having anymore of this. Time to call on the name of Jesus. Every knee bows to that name.(Philippians 2: 10) I went back to watching the video, but in my thoughts, I kept repeating "Jesus."  The pain got less and less and within a few minutes, the pain was gone. There is infinite power in the name of Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. ❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verses: "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a b...

Siesta

Image
Another hot day. It's 24c and I'm hibernating. Even Zeus is finding it too hot outside. He's getting ready to have his siesta in his den. Having said that, Zeus has a siesta every day, regardless of the weather. 😀

Fish and Chips

Image
At this international conference, I was working with this American lady, who was part of the organising team. She was only in London for a few days.  She said after the conference finished, a friend was going to show her around London. I recommended a few places for her to see if she had time. I also told her she had to try fish and chips.  She said she can't eat fish as she's a vegetarian. Fast forward three days later, my flatmate saw our local supermarket were doing a special offer for cod in batter.  She bought two packets and gave me one. Since my American friend can't eat fish, God give it to me instead through my flatmate.  Thank you, Lord, for your constant provision. ❤️ Here's a photo of the fish (cod in batter) and  chips I had today.  Actually, it's more like fish and French fries.  British  chips are a lot fatter. 😊

On Being the Light of the World

Image
"You are the light of the world." Matthew 5: 14 ---- I was booked to work as a steward at  this huge concert hall I've worked at before.  Usually after I am booked at a venue, I check what kind of concert or event it is. This one was a two day Christian conference promoting a course I've actually been on. There were going to be speakers and delegates from all over the world. Two days before the Christian conference, I was booked at a music venue I've never worked at before, but have always been curious about. When I checked who the band was, I discovered there were going to be several bands playing extreme metal music that promised to be very "dark."  I was going to cancel that booking, but  I remembered Jesus told believers that we "are the light of the world" which means we are to be the light for everyone, everywhere.  Also, God has not given me the spirit of fear. (2 Timothy 1: 7) At the music gig, my colleague and I were outside the doors ...

Jesus is My Shepherd

When I was a kid, my mum insisted that we memorise a few Bible verses like Psalm 23. At the time, I used to recite it parrot fashion and had no idea of the actual meaning of the words. It was only many years later when I started studying the Bible that I started paying attention to the meaning of the words. One time while I was experiencing a demonic attack and I felt this hand around my throat that was trying to strangle me, in desperation l remembered this verse:  "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil..." (Psalm  23: 4) I was instantly free, thank God. ❤️ That was before I was actually saved.  The other day, I was watching this  programme on a Christian channel about the parable of the lost sheep when the shepherd will leave his ninety nine sheep and go searching for that one lost sheep. (Luke 15: 4-6). The teacher reiterated that the lost sheep does not find itself, it is the shepherd that goes looking for it and brings ...

Chivalry

When I got on the tube, there were no vacant seats. This GenZ looking young man offered me his seat and I accepted it with gratitude. Nice to see chivalry is very much alive in the youths of today. 😀

Ah, Bliss

While I was on the platform waiting for the train (the Elizabeth Line), it was boiling hot and the platform was heaving with passengers. When the train arrived and the doors opened, I could feel the cool air. It was like stepping into a supermarket on a blisteringly hot day. Bliss! I wish all the tube trains had airconditioning that works like this line. 😊

Forgiveness

At this huge event I was working at, a few of us were hosting this workshop. We had to check guests in and direct them to the right rooms. There was this Toilet sign right behind where we were sitting.  Our manager told us that those toilets were reserved for staff and guests attending the workshops. We were asked to redirect visitors to the toilets outside the halls. Every time someone asked about using the toilets, we told them that the toilets were "closed" and redirected them to the other toilets. Most visitors were fine about this excuse, but a few refused to take no for an answer and went upstairs to find out for themselves. I jokingly said to one colleague that I was going to have to confess to God for all the lies we have been telling visitors asking to use the toilets.  My colleague said "ask and you shall receive the wrong answer," which made me chuckle.😊 As a Christian, I know God has already forgiven all our sins which gives me a forgiveness consciousne...
