Giving Comfort
Usually on a long bus journey, I sit upstairs. This time, I decided to sit on the lower deck, right at the back.
At some point, this woman got on and asked if she could sit where I was sitting as she had a painful knee. I moved to the vacant seat next to her. She kept muttering to herself about how people in London are not very caring.
I had a feeling my travelling companion was not only experiencing physical pain, but emotional pain as well. I said to her, "God bless you!"
After making small talk, she opened up to me about a friend she had lost recently. She said after she called his mobile phone, he didn't call her back which was out of character. A few days later, her friend's death was announced on Facebook.
My friend said she couldn't understand how someone who was in such good health and only aged 55 could die so suddenly. She even showed me her friend's obituary, which had his photo.
Both of us got off at the same stop. Before we parted company, I told her I was really sorry about her loss and gave her a hug. We then wished each other well.
I am glad God put my friend and I together on that bus so I could comfort her with His comfort.❤️
