About Assisted Dying

So MPs over here have voted to back the bill to allow assisted dying.  As a Christian, God has made it very clear that: "You shall not murder." (Genesis 20: 13)  Whether you call it assisted dying or suicide, it  is still murder.  There are exceptions like self-defence and accidental death, otherwise murder is murder. Before my mum passed, she was put in induced coma so they could continue to medicate her. They also did lots of tests. The consultant called me to give me the results. He told me mum's organs were shutting down and there was nothing further they could do for her.  He said if her heart stopped, they were not going to resuscitate her. It was now up to my brother and I to decide when to switch off her life support. In other words, we were being asked to assist mum's death. I refused to accept that.  Just because the medics don't have a cure doesn't mean that is the end. They are not God. I have watched tons of videos about people who have actuall...

Autumn = Fallen Leaves

Image
Just received an email to notify me that they've had to suspend part of the Piczadilly Line because of fallen leaves on the track. They are working to restore the service. That's what happens in Autumn, fallen leaves. Um, is this the first time we are experiencing Autumn in this country?  For anyone travelling on the tube this weekend, avoid the Piccadilly Line as parts of it will be closed on Saturday and Sunday because of planned engineering works, not fallen leaves. 😄 I took this photo a week ago. Note the fallen leaves on the ground.

Let Me Out!

Image
When my flatmate's cat, Zeus, stood near the door leading to the back garden, I thought I'd have some fun with him first. "Do you want to.go out?" He stared at me. "Go on, say please," I said. "Tell me you want to go out." I then turned round to do the washing-up in the sink.  Suddenly, I heard "Go out" behind me.   "Did you just say "go out"?" I said. "What a clever boy!" I then opened the door and let him out. I wish I had my phone to record him! 😄

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Image
"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever." 1 Chronicles 16:3 --- Happy Thanksgiving Day to all my relatives and friends celebrating in America and all over the world. Although we don't have Thanksgving Day over here in the UK, every day is an opportunity for me to give thanks to God. I thank God for His goodness and mercy.  Even when things appear not to be going my way, I still thank Him and praise Him in whatever the circumstance. If God were to withdraw His Light from the universe, which actually gives life to the physical universe, there would be utter darkness and evil will reign supreme. Thank God, His Light keeps the evil one at bay. Thank you, God, for living in me, expressing through me and walking with me. Thank you, God, for being You! ❤️🥰 ---- Related Bible verses: "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." Your Personal God

Image
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'" -John 14:6 ----- One thing I have learned about  pets is how reliant they are on their owners. Take my flatmate's cat, Zeus, as an example. My flatmate provides Zeus with food and water, beds (including ours), shelter, medication, visits to the vet when needed, a nice garden for him to explore, toys and lots of affection. (Zeus loves us back in his own way). When my flatmate is away, she always has someone looking after Zeus. In other words, my flatmate is Zeus' personal god, even though Zeus thinks he is god.  Zeus doesn't always know what's good for him. One time when he got into a fight with the local hoodlum cat, he came home wounded. After his god tended to his wound, he still wanted to go out and finish the fight. My flatmate had to keep him indoors for his own safety. In the same respect, when you  accept Jesus as your personal Lord a...

Shopping at the Supermarket

As I had run out of essentials like toilet rolls, cleaning products and laundry tablets, I decided to pop into our local supermarket, which happens to be right opposite where I live. After I got everything on my shopping list, I went to the checkout. I noticed there were a few tills being served by humans. I haven't used those in a long time. The one I picked only had two customers ahead of me which means I'll be out in a jiffy. I quickly realised that wasn't going to happen. The checkout assistant was having a chat in Turkish with the first elderly customer.  She also helped the customer to count her cash. The next customers were an elderly couple. The woman told the checkout assistant that they were her colleague's parents and they had a chat.  They were also paying by cash. I could feel myself getting worked up. I heard the Holy Spirit in me whispering, "Calm down!" I know, I know!  If I wanted express service, I should have used  self-checkout, right? When...

Light of My Life

Image
"Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8: 12 ---- When I arrived at the tube station, it was heaving with passengers. Some of them were  chanting which meant they had had just come from a football match. I started feeling like my energy was being drained and the lights were growing dimmer around me,  As the platform for the northbound trains was overcrowded, I decided to catch a train going southbound, get off at the next stop and then travel back north. This way, I could avoid the crowd.   When I finally got on the northbound train and got a seat, I was still feeling as if my world was going darker. I closed my eyes and then silently declared to myself the following: "I live in the Light of Christ. His Presence fills this train and the entire network." When I opened my eyes, I noticed the tube was a lot brighter and I  was feeling energised. By the ti...

The Jesus Christ Trend

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Hebrews 13: 8 ---- Before we started work, I was hanging out with two colleagues. One told us she was trying to order these shoes online for work, but they'd sold out. I told her where I had got my shoes from. I said they were really comfortable.  She looked at them and said, "Your shoes are very old," she said.  (My colleague isn't British, she's from a country in Asia). "Are you trying to tell me that my shoes are old-fashioned?" I said. The other colleague looked at me and we all burst out laughing. "I'm sorry, it's just that the shoes I like are more trendy," she said sheepishly. "It's okay, I get where you're coming from," I said. I actually appreciated her candour.  My colleague was born in the 1990s in that Millennial generation. When I was around her age, I was very much into what was trendy. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing comfy shoes, ...

Secret Codes

Image
"And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9: 6 ----- While I was waiting for the tube, an announcement came on that sinply said "Code Eight." I wondered what that meant. Various companies I have worked for have their secret codes names which staff are aware of and act upon as soon as they hear them. Visitors are usually oblivious to those codes.  After I got off the tube, I got the bus home. The journey usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes to my destination. I took out my phone and started browsing this news website. I was amazed to find an article about the various codes that the transport system uses. (See link below) Now I now what Code Eight means. 😄 (See photo attached). Thank you, God, for answering what I was wondering about. ❤️ https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/lifehacks/article-14101255/What-code-announcements-ess-age-London-underground-tube-meaning-Inspector-Sands.html?ito=native_share_art...

Trusting in God to Work Everything Out

Image
The last time I was working at this particular gallery, it took me 30 minutes to walk from the tube station and I arrived 5 minutes before my shift started, which is extremely late for me. Before my next shift, I was notified that part of the tube line that I normally use will be closed at the weekend  for engineering works. I wondered how lomg it was going to take to get to work this time? My next shift was going to finish at 6.30pm and the gallery is located in a park that closes at 4.30pm. The adjacent park closes at 12midnght.  That means I could walk through that park. They currently have a winter event going on at that park which means it will be crowded at night.  I don't fancy walking through that crowd. When I checked the alternative routes, I was inspired to  take a different tube line, get off at another tube station and catch a bus. From the bus stop, it took about 5 minutes to walk to the gallery. I arrived an hour early.  I killed time by going...

About Discernment

"For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ." 1 Corinthians 2: 16 ---- If you have a thought and the thought manifests instantly, how do you know whether it is God’s plan for you? Here's are two examples. Two month ago, while I was going through some old emails, I noticed an email from a journalist I worked with many years ago.  The very next day, she sent me a copy of an article. After reading it and giving my opinioin, she asked me if I was willing to be interviewed for an article she had in mind. At first, I liked the idea and agreed to do it.  She told me she was going to pitch the idea to two magazines she has worked with. After a few days, she told me they still hadn't got back to her. In the meantime, I was feeling really uncomfortable about getting involved in that project. I finally  told the journalist that I needed to withdraw as the article conflicted with my values. She said that m...

Getting to Work on Time

Image
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 19 ---- There are two ways God uses to get me to work. The first is through the public transport system. Every week I receive email updates from London Transport about which parts of the public transport  system are not working over the weekend. As I work a lot at weekends, I find those updates very useful as they warm me in advance to use alternative routes. And then there is the second way God uses.  Here's one example. When I got out of the tube station, I decided to stop off at the local supermarket to buy a sandwich for lunch as there are no shops around the art gallery where I was working that day.  I figured it would take about 20 minutes to walk through the park to the gallery and still arrive about 15 minutes before my shift starts. During my stroll, I stopped to admire the lake and birds. I even envied their leisurely lifestyle. 😄 I then thought of God's...

Glorifying God

"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20 ---- While I was working at this art gallery, I chatted to two women. They told me they had just come from another exhibition about the use of AI in music and they highly recommended a room where you cam sing your own songs accompanied by AI. After I finished work,  I decided to check out the exhibition. Although I am an AI sceptic  I thought the concept was interesting. I even went into the room and  performed some of my songs dedicated to God and the AI accompanied me with a backing choir.   I thought it was fun. I'll definitely revisit that exhibition again. 😄 I believe my purpose is to glorify God not only with my body and spirit. That also involves using various tools like the Internet and soci...

Jesus is Everywhere

Image
While I was having a break at work, I noticed I had received a WhatsApp from my flatmate. She said one of her students had written "I love Jesus" on the cover of her Literacy book. (See photo attached).😊 My flatmate knows how much I love Jesus. I was really touched. ❤️ After my break, I went back to work at the art gallery. I got chatting to this visitor who was scrutinising every single piece in detail. "Have you seen the piece about Jesus?" she said. "No." "It says 'Jesus saves gangsters too,'" she said. "Really? Show me!" The visitor pointed it out to me. I was amazed she was able to pick that out from the sea of collages.  Before I finished work, I took some photos of the exhibits including the one about Jesus. Jesus does get around, doesn't he? 😄❤️and  Art exhibition

Catnap

My flatmate's cat, Zeus, has decided my bed is the perfect place for him to have his catnap. Here he is having a snooze. 😊 Thanks you, God, for my flatmate and Zeus. ❤️

Letting Go of Grievance

Last night while I was working at  this concert, most of the guests I met were friendly and polite, but there was one particular guest who was challenging. After the event finished, I reported the experience to the duty manager and let it go, or so I thought. When I woke up this morning, the guest was still in my head. I asked God to help me let go of any grievance I was holding. I was reminded of Ephesians 4: 31-32.  Thank God for the Bible, which has the answer to every problem we have in this world. ❤️ ----- Related Bible verses: "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4: 31-32, NKJV  "Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor [perpetual animosity, resentment, strife, fault-finding] and slander be put away from you, along with every kind of malice [all spitefulness, verbal abuse, malevolence...

I am a Child of God

Image
"So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." Genesis 1: 27 ---- Before I go to sleep, I charge my phone using my wireless charger.  When the phone is still charging the light underneath the charger is red and the bottom of my phone usually feels hot.  The moment my phone is fully charged, the light on the charger turns blue and my phone feels cool.  It got me thinking about my stomach. Whenever I eat or drink, it reaches a certain point when my stomach can't take any more food or drink. If I persist, I end up throwing up.  That's the human body for you, it has it's limits.  The human body can only do so much until it gets tired. While we can train our bodies to do more or have more stamina, the fact of the matter is that it is limited. That's what makes us mortals. How do we get around our limitations? Because humans have become disconnected from God, their Creator,, because of their sins, God sent...

Word of Knowledge

So this man walked into the arts shop I was working at.  There was something about the wat he moved that  caught my attention. He had lomg hair, sideburns and moustache and was very good looking. While he was gazing at this print on the wall, I walked over to him and said, "You look like someone who has just walked out of a film set." "Why do you say that?" "Because you look so cool." "A lot of people in London look like me," he said. "Not true. There are not many people around here who look the way you do," I said. "There's something about you that makes you stand out." "Thank you," he smiled. He told me he recently moved to London from India. Although he's 27, he was passionate about the fashion of the 1970s, hence the outfit he had on. Finally,  he admitted that he was an actor of TV and theatre. He said he had actually just come from a meeting with his new agent. Bingo! I told him I have worked on lots of f...

The Two Timelines

Image
I'm a huge fan of the American Sci-fi, Star Trek. I love episodes that  deal with timelines. In fact, the new Star Trek films are set in the Kelvin timeline, an alternative universe to the original Star Trek series. As a Christian, I believe there are two timelines: one where you experience God's manifest presence and the other one where you don't. Here are two examples. When I arrived at the tube station, the platform for the trains travelling westbound into central Londn was packed full. Considering it was almost 9.30 am, I was expecting it to be empty. I was inspired to go the opposite platform and catch the train eastbound to the previous stop and then catch the next train back. Another passenger had the same idea. While we were on the train, she told me she was already late for work. I told her I had more than enough time. We got off at the next stop and went to the opposite platform to catch the westbound train. The next train that arrived was full and didn't have...

Indiana Jones

Image
Today, I was working as a host at three graduation ceremonies from the same university. At the end of each ceremony, the orchestra they had on stage played the theme song from the film, "Indiana Jones", composed by John Williams. By the end of my shift, I had that song stuck in my head. On the way home, I stopped at this restaurant to get some food then walked to the bus stop  As the bus I wanted got cancelled, I decided to travel a different route, which took a lot longer.  When I finally got home, I had a quick shower. I then turned on my laptop to watch some mindless TV on this film channel. Guess what film they had on? "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Very funny, God! 😂 Of course, I had to watch it again, even though I've seen it a zillion times. I never get tired of Indiana Jones films or that theme song. ❤️

God's Perfect Design

'I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well." Psalm 139: 14 ---- While I was working with a colleague,  I started coughing which startled him and he leapt out of his chair. After I was back to normal, he suggested for me to use honey, lemon and ginger for my cough. I told him I didn't have a cough, I was simply coughing because something needed to come out. That made him relax. For the rest of our shift I was perfectly fine. It's amazing how people have become so disease conscious that they have forgotten that God has designed our bodies to eliminate what doesn't belong in them. I believe coughing is one way. It doesn't mean I am ill or coming down with something. Thank you, God, for designing my body perfectly. ❤️ --- Related Bible verses: "Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man. "Do you not yet understand that whatever...

Freedom

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." Galatians 5: 1 ---- Today, I received a text fcrm my mobile network provider to remind me that my year's SIM only contract is ending soon.  I could either stay on my current plan or I could consider getting a new SIM only deal. I called them to let them know I wanted to stay on the same plan. I asked if they were going to give me a new contract. They told me it was now up to me and I could just keep rolling on a month by month basis. If I find a better deal, I am free to take it. I was amazed that they didn't want to tie me to a contract. That makes me want to stay with them as they are the best anyway. I love being free. ❤️

The Joy of Grocery Shopping

"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23: 7 --- Most supermarkets now have self-checkouts. The one near me requires you to scan your receipt at the exit barrier first before it lets you out. When I finished shopping, I scanned the receipt, but the barrier remained closed. I did it again and it still wouldn't open. By then I was getting exasperated. I stomped over towards the shop assistant.  Just as I was about to complain to her, I spotted a barrier on the other side was open and I went through.8 As I was walking home, I thought about how my usually light footsteps had changed into a stomp the moment I felt irritated, which made me chuckle.   As the Bible puts it, we become what we think about the most. Thank God kept that other barrier open for me. 😄❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verse: "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are o...

God is the Power Bank

Image
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3: 16 ---- After work, while a friend and I were walking to the tube station, he mentioned that he only had about 15% battery charge on his phone. He said he had tried to charge his phone at work, but it hadn't worked.  I told him as we were travelling part of the journey together, he was welcome to use my power bank to charge his phone.I asked him which phone he had and he said an iPhone. The charger cable that comes with my power bank is suitable for Android phones only.  Recently, while I was working at this business event, I noticed a company was giving out free charging cables that has different cables attached to it and I asked for one. I keep that cable with my power bank. My friend used that cable to charge his phone. During our train journey, my friend and I had a nice chat about work and what's going on in his person...

God is Constantly at Work

"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118: 24 ---- When I woke up, I thanked God for the new day. As I was getting ready for work,  I kept declaring that every single moment comes from God and He is in control. Before our shift started, we had to have our usual briefing. After the duty manager gave us our briefing sheets, I checked to see where I was working and who I was working with. I recognised my partner's name as she used to work for my agency. I thought it would be nice to work with her. After the briefing finished, my work partner told me we were no longer working together as she had swapped her shift with another colleague. It turned out  to be someone I had worked with recently and I had enjoyed it. Today's "performance" was a graduation ceremony which we were hosting. My colleague and I were working at the graduands' entry point. We had to make sure they had their tickets. I let the graduands in and my c...

On Being Refined

"He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;  He will purify the sons of Levi, And purge them as gold and silver, That they may offer to the Lord An offering in righteousness." Malachi 3: 3 ---- I recently met a woman on the bus and we chatted about our different religious beliefs.  After I shared my faith with her, she told me I was very refined. I asked what she meant by "refined" and she said I was pure. While I was out with a friend watching the fireworks at this park, I told him about the woman on the bus calling me refined. "That's a good thing. It's nice to be called refined," he said. "I know what you're thinking," I said. "She didn't mean it in the worldly way of being cultured. She meant it in a spiritual way." "I see." "You see that fire?" I pointed at the bonfire. "To me, that fire represents God. God is a consuming fire and when you give your life to Him, He is constantly puri...

God Bless America

Image
The Bible asks believers in Christ to pray for those in authority. (2 Timothy 2: 1-2). God bless those in authority no matter what the outcome of the upcoming elections in America. God bless America. ❤️  ---- Related Bible verse: "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence." 2 Timothy 1-2 Map courtesy of Google Images

Deja Vu

Image
"That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun." Ecclesiastes 1: 9 ----- When I heard Kemi Badenoch had been voted the new leader of the Conservative Party, my initial thoughts were politics is becoming interesting, not because she's a black woman, but because we're back to the 1980s when Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister and Labour was very far left then. As the Bible puts it: "There is nothing new under the sun." I'm old enough to remember. In fact, I once saw Margaret Thatcher in action, live, in Parliament. Whether you agreed with the right then or not, at least they were true to their core Conservative values. I see this in the "new" Conservative leader. I look forward to seeing how her leadership plays out. God bless Kemi and her shadow cabinet. 🙏❤️ ---- Related Bible verse: "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and givi...

Second of November

While my colleague and I were letting the audience into the auditorium, this man said to me,, "Is it the second or the third today?" "It's the second of November today," I said. "I meant is it the second or third concerto?" he said.  I burst out laughing. His wife told him to check the programme. Before they went in, he told me my response could be used in a comedy sketch. That's what you get when you ask a literalist, like me, a question. 😄

Walking Mud Free

Image
"I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.  They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world." John 17: 15-16 ---- A few days ago, my flatmate went to see her daughter, wy⁷ho lives out of London. When she returned I asked her what they had got up to and she said they went for long walks in the countryside and it was very muddy. The moment she mentioned the "m" word I started cringing as I hate mud. I told her I always avoid anywhere muddy when I go for walks. I said one time when I was lost and stuck in this muddy park, I prayed for help.  God sent me this guy who acted as my guide and led me on a mud free path out of the park. A friend invited me to see a fireworks display at a park. We arranged to meet at his place and go from there. Before we left he put on his walking boots. He asked me if I had boots on as it was likely to be muddy. I told him I only had ny black trainers on and I hate mud...
