Your Real Friends and Family

I saw this post and photo below on a Facebook page called "Now I've Seen Everything.  I think it's so true. Jesus, the Greatest Friend I have, shows compassion/mercy first and then teaches truth.  Otherwise, He wouldn't have performed the many miracles that He did.   The Holy Spirit is my other Great Friend and He is just like Jesus. ❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verses: "And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”"  John 8: 11 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." Do It Now!

Before my flatmate went away on holidays with her daughter, she told me they would be returning the following Friday. I decided to do the household chores on the Thursday, which was my day off.   On Tuesday, which was also my day off, I had a thought to do the chores, but I thought, nah I'll do it on my next day off on Thursday  The thought encouraged me to do it now.  I then received a text from my flatmate to let me know she and her daughter were flying back to the UK on Wednesday and she might be back at home either on Wednesday evening or Thursday. Aha, so that's why I was thinking of doing the cleaning now.  I believe those persistent thoughts were coming from the all knowing Mind of Christ in me. I ended up emptying the bins and hoovering the entire flat. I was back at work on Wednesday.  My flatmate returned from her holidays on Wednesday evening to a clean flat and empty bins. Thank you, God. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "For “who has known the mi...

Inspiration

Image
On my way to work, I thought of a work colleague I haven't seen in ages and wondered how she was. Later at work, I saw her. After exchanging hugs, I asked her where she'd been. She said she was on tour with her band. I asked her what genre of music she performs and she said it was eclectic. Although I'd never heard any of my colleague's songs, I  immediately thought of this singer called Sade and asked if her song was like Sade's.  My colleague said that artist was her hero and inspires her.  She said she would love to sing like her. I told my colleague what my favourite song of that artist was and she said she also loved that song. How did I know what type of song my colleague was into? I have no idea, but I know Someone living inside of me who does - the Holy Spirit.  He reveals things to me. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for being my constant inspiration.❤️  ---- Relevant Bible verses: "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will...

Love Casts Out Fear

Image
A few days ago, I asked a friend if he fancied going for a walk with me. He instantly agreed and we arranged to meet up at his house and go from there. When I checked the weather forecast, I saw it was going to be another hot day and I didn't fancy being out in the heat. I've also been getting heat rash and insect bites, even though I now carry an insect repellant with me. I had to give myself a good talking to. I can't let the heat and insects steal my joy! God has not given me a spirit of fear. His love casts out fear. Today, I met my friend at the agreed time, but I persuaded him to go to a park which has lots of shade. I didn't even use the insect repellant and I was fine. My friend and I had a lovely time. Thank you, God, for the lovely day out.❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verses: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1: 7 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fea...

Ghost Lashes

I hear there is a new beauty trend called "ghost lashes" where you don't wear mascara on your eye lashes. I don't wear mascara, but I use eyeliner to create the illusion of wearing mascara.  I always knew I would set a trend one day. 😀

Gods Way of Meeting the Need

Image
A year ago, when this stray cat I call Loudmouth (because of his loud miaow) kept coming round, I prayed for God to find him a home.  Instead, God touched my flatmate's heart and she started feeding him. Now every morning, he comes round to be watered and fed. At first, my flatmate's cat, Zeus, did not like her giving attention to the stray, so she was very careful to feed Loudmouth outside. Eventually, Zeus accepted his stray "brother" as long as he stays outside.  As my flatmate's currently away, I've been feeding Loudmouth. Thank you, God, for always making a way to meet the need Your way. ❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verse: “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." Loving Your Neighbour

Before I started work, I went to my favourite food store at this shopping centre to buy a croissant and some fruit juice.  While I was sitting on this bench enjoying the croissant, this man approached me. He showed me a credit card and asked if I had dropped it. I told him it wasn't mine and suggested that he handed it to security. I then thanked him for his kindness. What a lovely way to start my day. That man's love was more delicious than the croissant and fruit juice.  Thank you, Lord, for showing me how to love your neighbour as yourself. ❤️ ------ Relevant Bible verses: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22: 39 "Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law." Romans 13:10

On Being the Light of the World

Image
In the Bible, Jesus said to His disciples "you are the light of the world" (Matthew 5: 14). This means all of His disciples and believers - in the past, present and future - are to shine His Light wherever they are. In other words, they are to represent Jesus right here on earth. How does this work in practice? Shining Christ's light takes many forms. It could be speaking to someone on the bus, praying for someone, helping someone in need, complimenting someone, making someone smile  etc. Here are two examples I experienced recently. My flatmate is very good friends with one of the elderly neighbours. She usually pops round to help her with chores. On one of my days off, my flatmate came home early from work and went to visit our neighbour. After a while, she returned and asked if I could assist with an emergency with the neighbour. At first, I was reluctant to go with her as I wasn't properly dressed and had no makeup on, but she managed to persuade me to leave my eg...

The Technology Expert

Four years ago, I was forced to buy a new phone as my old one stopped working and it was way too expensive to have it fixed.   I recently noticed my current phone has not only slowed down considerably, the battery is draining very quickly and it is not compatible with a few of the apps I use. I am now required to use apps to book jobs and to clock in/out. Some jobs even require you to join a WhatsApp group which drains the battery.  I've had to buy a new phone that can take the heavy load of work requirements. At the phone shop, I asked if they could set up the phone for me. They were happy to do so for a small fee, of course. It took ages for the transfer of data from my old phone to the new one.  When I checked the app that I use to book jobs, it wasn't working even though it was installed on the new phone. I told the shop staff that it's imperative that I have access to that app. I then asked him to call my new phone to test that it works. The call didn't come thr...

Permanently Plugged In

Image
Before I switched off my laptop, I noticed the battery was 80% charged. The next day when I switched the laptop back on, the battery was now showing it had zero charge. How weird! I then plugged the charger in expecting it to charge the battery, but I noticed the battery was still showing zero charge. After several hours, the battery charge stayed the same. I realised the battery was now dead. I am now using the laptop with the charger plugged in. The laptop reminds me of my relationship with God through Jesus Christ which involves trusting in God as my source and supply when everything is going well and not so well. The healthy laptop battery represents periods when everything is going well and I am tempted to look to myself as my source. Now that the battery is dead, the only way the laptop can be charged is by having the charger permanently plugged in. I believe God is my only Source and I am permanently plugged in God through Christ.  I trust in God as my source of abundance, b...

Blessed to Be a Blessing

Image
On my flatmate's last day at school before they broke up for the summer holidays, her class kids (and their parents) gave her gifts to show their appreciation. She shared some of her gifts with me, including a bouquet of flowers. (See photo below). I'm even going to share some of those gifts with my friends.  The flowers and gifts are a reminder that God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others. Thank you, God, for constantly pouring Your infinite blessings in and through me. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing." Genesis 12: 2 “You are the light of the world. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5: 14-16 "I beseech y...

Ms Rachel

While I was at work, I saw this baby in a buggy playing with a smartphone. I said to my colleague, "Wow, kids start really early with technology these days." "It's because of Ms Rachel," he said. "Never heard of her," I said. My colleague told me Ms Rachel is a children's TV entertainer for babies and toddlers and she's huge on social media. He said if I had young kids, nieces and nephews, I would know about her. I told him my nephews are in their twenties and thirties. My first ever technology was a calculator.  I didn't have one till I was about 16 years old. Now babies have iPads and smartphones. 😊 https://youtube.com/shorts/dD3NKG6ELzs?feature=shared

My World Cup Dream

Image
My dream was for England and France to play each other in the World Cup final as I thought it would be fun for Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, who play for Real Madrid, to play against each other. England will then win the World Cup again after they won it 60 years ago.  That didn't happen, but they did play against each other in the battle for the bronze medal, where England played their greatest game ever since 1966, beat France 6-4 and won the bronze medal.🥉  Well done, England. You roared. 🦁🦁🦁 Now Mbappe and Bellingham can go back to being team mates. 😊 Thank you, God, for giving us this beautiful game.  ❤️ ⚽️

Jesus is My Stress Reliever

Image
When I went on Facebook this morning, the first post I saw on my newsfeed was a video by a pastor called Chad Gonzales. He wrote:  "Fear, anxiety, stress—it's all pride. The moment you get anxious, you're looking to YOURSELF to be your own God, provider, healer, protector. Humility is submission to God. Where is your consciousness right now?" As my flatmate had been talking about how stressed she was at work, I showed her the post.  I don't think she took it in as she was too busy preparing for work and soon left. I had the day off. Later when my flatmate returned from work, she showed me the gifts she had received from the kids in her class on their final day before they broke up for the summer holidays.  She even gave me some chocolates and flowers she had received. Later, she showed me  this onject a kid had given her. "It looks like a stress ball," I said. "I don't want it," she said.  "I'll have it. It looks like a fun toy to ...

Plum Tree

Image
Last year,  the plum tree in our back garden produced so many delicious plums. We didn't know whether it was going to produce any this year. It's done it again. There is enough and to spare for humans, the local squirrels, the foxes (if they fancy some), and our feathered friends. Here is a bowl of plums ny flatmate picked up. She even shared some with our neighbour. They are delicious. We love and appreciate you, plum tree.  Thank you, God, for meeting all our needs. ❤️

Never Give Up!

Image
I love taking photos of trees. Almost a month ago, this tree was almost bare. Look at it now.  It doesn't  even seem to have been affected by the prolonged heatwave we've been experiencing recently.  We can learn a lot from trees. They don't know how to give up. Thank you, God, for giving us trees. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verse: "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." Galatians 6: 9

My Allegiance is to Christ

Image
I find it interesting how professional footballers have two teams they play for: the team they've signed a contract for, which is usually the top football teams in the world; and for their country. In international football matches, team members end up playing against each other as their allegiance is to their country. For instance, Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham currently play for the Spanish team, Real Madrid, and obviously live in Spain on a temporary basis.  However, when it comes to the World Cup,  Mbappe is playing for France and Bellingham is playing for England.   In the same respect, as Christians, God has chosen  the nations that we all live in. While I am based in the UK, work in the UK and support the UK, I never forget that my allegiance is to Christ and my citizenship is in Heaven.   I am a Christian playing for the British team. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven an...

Counterfeit vs the Real Thing

At work, I noticed a colleague was wearing these smart black trainers that looked like shoes. They actually reminded me of what my shoes/trainers looked like when they were brand new. "I like your shoes, they look very smart," I said. "Are they Sxxx?" "No, they're Txxx," she said. "Are they comfortable?" "I was hoping they would be, but after a few hours of wearing thm, they are really uncomfortable." "How much did you pay for them?" I said. "£8." I burst out laughing. "No wonder, they're so uncomfortable. Mine were £80 and they feel like walking on air. It's worth investing in a pair." "I used to have your brand and I wore them for years. I'm going to buy another pair," she said. The conversation with my work colleague got me thinking about counterfeit teachers. The Bible warns believers to be wary of false Christs, false prophets, false teachers and false doctrines.  I believe th...

Travel Guide

As Christians, we are aware this is a fallen world where the devil is constantly creating chaos. However, every single born again Christian has the Holy Spirit living inside of them, who is their guide and teacher. He navigates us through our daily affairs. For instance, I planned to travel to work via a certain route.  When I woke up this morning, I started browsing this online newspaper. I then realised, I hadn't done my prayers and spent time with the Lord.  I thought, "Sorry, Lord, you know You are my number one." As I continued browsing,  I noticed a headline about a fire at a train station.  I discovered the station was in London which meant the train route I had planned to use was bound to be affected. Whern I checked the transport website, it confirmed that was the case and I was going to have to leave earlier than planned and use an alternative route. I believe it was the Holy Spirit who had inspired me to look at the online newspaper.  Thank you, Lord,...

Toilet Rolls

As I'd almost run out of toilet rolls, I was thinking whether to get some at the supermarket near work or wait till I come home and then buy some at our local supermarket.  Decisions, decisions. After my flatmate returned from her shopping, she told me she had bought me some toilet rolls. As she could see I was running low, she bought a huge packet of my preferred brand to share with me. Thank you, God, for meeting that need. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verse: "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4: 19
