The Gift of Time

At an event I was working at, I was  managing this theatre. Before the talks started, I checked to see how many talks there were on each day and how long each talk was supposed to last. I noticed there were five talks, each one lasting for an hour.  That meant there was not going to be any turnaround time for me to clear out the theatre for the next speaker. The sound engineer also needed time to do his sound checks and to make sure the next speaker's presentation has been downloaded.

It was up to me to manage the times. So I told each speaker that I was giving them 50 minutes and I will signal to them when they've got 10 minutes left, then 5 minutes and when to finish.

If I hadn't taken control and managed the time, it would have been utter chaos.  Because I had insisted on time limits, the speakers were happy to stick to their time slots, the sound engineer had all the time he needed to do his job, and I had time to organise the space.

I noticed my colleague on the next theatre who hadn't taken control to manage the time was in chaos.

It got me thinking why time is important.

I believe time is God’s way of bringing order out of chaos.

Thank you, God, for giving us time. ❤️
