Jesus is the Proof of My Identity
So I applied to work as a volunteer at this organisation. As part of the application process, the organisation has to do stringent background checks and get character references. They also need me to prove my identity with the required official documents such as passport, birth certificate etc.
This process reminds me of what Jesus taught His followers about the two births.
The first birth is of the flesh. That birth occurs when you come out of your earthly mother's womb. You are then given documents that prove where and when you were born. Your flesh identity is based on your nationality, gender, cultural and genetic heritage, etc.
The second birth is of the Spirit. That birth occurs when you receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Your spiritual identity is Christian, son/daughter of God and citizen of the Kingdom of God.
Back to the application process. Just like an actor playing a character is not his character, I know that my flesh identity is not my identity. The documents proving my flesh identity are simply scripts I need to play this human role.
My real identity is I am a born again Christian.
Thank you, Jesus, for being the living proof of my real identity. Amen. ❤️
