About Thoughts
The Bible teaches believers that we become what we think. (Proverbs 23: 7)
I have noticed that whatever thoughts I am preoccupied with not only affect my behaviour, they influence my environment.
Here are a few examples, which happened a few days ago.
Every morning, I check my Facebook memories to see what I was up to. On this particular morning, a post I had written from 2017 stood out:
"If one size fitted all, everyone would be a size 7. Let us appreciate our uniqueness."
An hour later, while I was on the tube on my way to work, I sat in front of this young man who looked like he was in his thirties. At one point, our eyes locked and he smiled. I smiled back and quickly looked away as I didn't want to encourage him. I then glanced at the advert above the man in front of me and noticed it read:
"Prolonged eye contact getting a bit much? You're not the only one."
The words made me chuckle. (The advert was for some therapy). I took a photo of it. I made sure I avoided locking eyes with the man in front of me. He got off a few stops later.
At work, I had a banter with a colleague about politics. She said it's about time cities in the north of England got more investment instead of London.
"At least London attracts a lot of tourists," I said "Liverpool attracts fans of The Beatles. What exactly has Manchester got to offer, apart from the band, Oasis?" 😊
Later on the way home, I joined my colleagues at the local tube station. When the first tube arrived it was full. One colleague suggested that we wait for the next train, but we ignored his suggestion and got on. During the journey, the train driver announced he was going to terminate at the next stop. Maybe, we should have listened to our colleague.
Everyone got off at the next stop.
When the next train arrived and we got on, there weren't any seats available. I stood in front of this passenger who had a seat. I noticed on his tshirt was the word "Oasis." I then pointed it out to the colleague I had been having the banter with earlier and she laughed. I told her it shows we were meant to travel on this carriage.
During the journey, I managed to get a seat. By then my other colleagues had got off. As the train wasn't going to my destination, I decided to get off at the next stop and catch the bus from there. When I got off, I had a change of heart and decided to wait for the next train that was going to my destination, which was due in one minute. When I got on the carriage and sat down, I noticed the advert (for some dog food) in front of me read:
"One-size-fits-all is for socks."
It reminded me of my Facebook memories post that I had read earlier.
The next day while I was travelling home on the tube with a colleague, we chatted about our mutual love of cats. Later, as I was getting on the bus, I noticed a passenger in front of me, had the word "CAT" on the back of her jacket.
It got me thinking, if my behaviour and environment can be influenced by my trivial thoughts, what would happen if my mind was focused only on Jesus and His teachings.
What if all Christians were only thinking with the mind of Christ. Imagine what impact Christians would have on the world. That's why Jesus said "We are the light of the world."
Thank you, Lord, for giving me Your mind and the Holy Spirit as my guide. ❤️

Relevant Bible verses:
"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23: 7
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5: 14-16
"If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." John 14: 15-18
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." John 14: 26
"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you." John 16: 13-14
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12: 1-2
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus," Philippians 2: 5
