Why It's Better to Remain Silent
At this museum I was working at, I noticed a visitor carrying a tote bag with the words: "Who do you belong to?"
I read the words out loud to her.
She said the line was from a book they had both read, meaning the young man she was with.
"Who do YOU belong to?" I said.
"That's a very philosophical question we've been thinking about," she said.
I didn't say anything further, and walked away.
To me, that's not a philosophical question at all. I know who I belong to: God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit.
When I finished my shift, I had a quick chat with a colleague. She said she'd noticed that since she got into her 50s, her body no longer operates the way it used to. She said she's going to have to change her diet and cut down on sugar and carbs. She also said her older brother, in his mid-fifties, recently changed his eating habits and lost loads of weight.
I listened silently to what she was saying, but didn't make any comment as I knew we have different words views.
My world view is I belong to God and my food comes from God. As the Bible puts it:
"Every gift God freely gives us is good and perfect, streaming down from the Father of lights, who shines from the heavens with no hidden shadow or darkness and is never subject to change." James 1: 17, TPT.
In other words, what God gives is always good and perfect. However, the carnal mind believes that food can be both harmless and harmful.
How do I explain.that idea to a non-believer? All I can do is remain silent.
I belong to you, God.
Thank you, God, for Your constant good and perfect gifts which are always good and perfect. Amen. ❤️
