Divine Protection

While I was waiting at this bus stop, a bus arrived. As it was terminating at that stop, this woman and her toddler (possibly aged between two and three years old) got off the bus.

When the child walked near the edge of the pavement, she pulled him away and said, "Danger."  When my bus arrived, we all queued up to get on. I heard the woman repeating the word "danger" to her son.

I believe because young kids seem to have no concept of danger, the mother was teaching her child that roads can be dangerous and you have to be careful.

Recently I was working at this museum where there were parents with lots of young kids in the play area. At one point, this man approached me and handed me a little board with two long sharp nails sticking out of it. Presumably, the board had come off something.

"The kids have been playing with this, you know, and it's dangerous," the man said. "They might hurt themselves."

I thanked him for bringing it to my attention. I then called the duty manager and passed the object to him to deal with.

I found it interesting that the kids had been playing with something which appeared dangerous. The kids have probably not yet been programmed about the dangers of sharp objects.

I wonder...

What if instead of parents and carers taught their kids about harm, they taught them that we have a loving God who is always with us and constantly protecting us?

Speaking of protection, about 15 years ago I was nearly run over by a bus. Just as the bus was about to hit me, time slowed down and I had all the time in the world to move my body out of the way, stoop to retrieve one of my slippers that was underneath the bus, and then ran to catch the bus behind. It was only when I was sitting down that I realised what had just happened. I believe God had obviously intervened and protected me.

God is my refuge.

Thank you, God, for your constant protection. ❤️

Relevant Bible verses:

"Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone."  Psalm 91: 9-12
