God Prepares a Table
I was booked for a short shift at this event starting at 6.30am. As there was going to be a tube strike on that day, I planned to leave home around 4.30am and catch the night bus into central London and then catch the overground train, that was still running, to my final destination.
The day before the event, my agent asked me if I was available to do a longer shift instead. I said I was. They then cancelled my 6.30am shift and booked me for a shift starting at 7.30am. That meant, I was able to leave at 5.40am and walk to my local overground train station to catch the 5.55am train which took me to central London where I was able to catch the next overground train to work. I was not only unaffected by the tube strike, I arrived about 45 minutes early for my shift. I was able to relax and catch up with old friends before our shift started.
In the theatre I was working at, I was in a team of four others. We agreed to let each other know when we were going for comfort breaks or lunch breaks. At one point, one colleague disappeared for a long time. I was even concerned that she might even be ill. When she returned, I asked her where she'd gone as she hadn't told any of us. She said she had told the other colleagues. She then got very defensive and accused me of trying to control her. Another colleague, who was playing mediator, defended me and said he understood I was only doing my job. The upset colleague walked away to calm down.
Immediately, our supervisor turned up and asked if I could cover another position as someone in that team was going home early. The supervisor said she was asking me because she knows I will be able to cope with the new position as I know what I'm doing. Before I left, I said goodbye to my colleagues and even wished the colleague, who had been upset with me, the very best.
I spent the final three hours of my shift with a colleague who was very professional and very easy to be with.
In the Bible it is written:
"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;" Psalm 23: 5
This means when you trust in God as your Provider, He will "prepare a table" in difficult situations.
Instead of having me leave very early and travelling on a night bus, God provided a later shift so I was able to travel very easily to work.
When the atmosphere got toxic with my colleague, God immediately provided another position for me that was very suitable.
Thank you, Lord, for constantly preparing a table for me in trying circumstances. ❤️

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want....You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever." Psalm 23:1, 5-6
