Because God Loves Us

In the Bible when Lazarus was extremely ill, his sisters, Mary and Martha, sent a message to Jesus as follows:

“Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” (John 11: 3)

"When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when He heard that he was sick, He stayed two more days in the place where He was."John 11: 4-6)

You would have thought Jesus would have taken immediate action to heal someone He loved.  Not Jesus. He decided to wait  a few more days.  When Jesus and His disciples finally arrived at the sisters' home, their brother had already been dead and buried for four days. Jesus then resurrected Lazarus from the dead. Only then did Jesus's disciples  and the two sisters understand that Jesus had been acting out of love.

Before Jesus was crucified, He told His disciples that He was going to go through a lot of suffering and all will be well, but they weren't able to process that information.  After Jesus was crucified, His disciples were devastated, fearful and thought all was lost.  They didn't understand that on the cross, Jesus was fulfilling His purpose as the sacrificial "Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." (John 1: 29)  It was only after Jesus was  resurrected, three days later, that their sorrow was transformed into joy. No wonder that day is called Good Friday?

Because God loves us, He sent His Son, Jesus, to take on Himself all of our sins and die for us, and be resurrected, so we can have everlasting life in Him.

The Three Times

I have observed that there are three times - consensus agreement time, cultural time and God time. I was working as a host at this Bhangra concert. The official start time or consensus agreement time was 7.30pm. We kept reminding fans that the concert was about to start, but most of them paid no attention because they expected it to start late i.e. cultural time. There was this last mnute rush to get them in and show them to their seats. After the concert started, we were asked to only let fans in at the end of each performance, so we had to listen out for the applause. Some latecomers couldn't understand why they had to wait. Obedience

Before the children's show I was working on started, my colleagues and I were in the foyer welcoming parents and their kids, directing them to the theatre and showing others where to park their buggies.  I noticed one colleague was speaking to this man.  She told us the man said after he gave his Bible to a homeless man, God told him to come to this arts centre and get a Bible.   Why would God send him to an arts centre that specialises in music, drama and dance? I suggested he could download a Bible app, if he needed instant access to a Bible. I even recommended an app I use, but  the man was adamant that God had told him to get a Bible at this arts centre. While my colleague continued to chat to the man, I focused on welcoming guests to the arts centre. Finally I saw the man holding a Bible. Apparently, my colleague always carries a Bible with her which she has been studying. As she was speaking to the man she was inspired to give him her Bible. We were all am...
