Meeting Kindred Spirits

On my way to work, I had to travel a different way as the tube line that I normally use was closed.  When I got off the tube to change to the next line, I noticed there were lots of steps leading down to the platform. That means, on my return journey, there would be lots of steps to climb up. I didn't fancy doing that.

I decided to check out the tube map to see if there was an alternative step-free route back.  A transport staff standing nearby asked if he could help me. At first, I said I was fine, but then I asked him for his advice.  He asked me where I would be travelling home to. After telling him, he suggested an alternative route, which I wasn't too keen on. I thanked him and told him I would travel a different way.

While I was waiting for my train, the transport staff and I had a chat. He told me he knew the area where I live as he lives in the neighbouring town. When I told him I lived opposite this huge supermarket, he said when that supermarket first opened, he actually applied to work there and was successful. However, he was offered a better paid job at the post office, which he accepted. How amazing is that?

While I was working at this gallery, I was drawn to this still life painting. Even though I am clueless about art, I thought the blueberries looked real, but the green grapes looked very artificial.

Later, I saw this woman looking at another painting at the other side of the gallery. I asked her if she was an artist. She said she was a still life artist. She took out her phone and showed me some photos of her work, which were really good.  I took her to the still life painting I was critiquing earlier and told her what I thought. She agreed with my analysis.  She said green grapes are difficult to paint because of the way they reflect the light, but the blueberries looked more real. I thanked her for her expert opinion.

When your connection with people is based solely on love, you end up meeting your kindred spirits everywhere.
