God's Reality TV Show
One of my favourite films is "The Truman Show", which I've watched numerous times.
Truman doesnt know that he was born and has been living in a reality TV show his entire life. All his loved ones and colleagues are actors, and the strangers he meets occasionally are extras. Every day of his life has been created, scripted and directed by Christof.* (See note below). When Truman eventually realises that he's in a TV show, he is given the choice whether he wants to remain in the show or go out into the big bad world. Truman chooses to exit the show.
I believe when I gave my life to Jesus Christ and accepted Him as my Lord and Saviour, I chose to live in a Reality TV show where the Living God is the writer, producer, director, casting director, actors and extras.
Here are some examples of God at work.
I had been thinking of several colleagues I have worked with at museums and galleries and wondering how they are, as I haven't seen them for a while.
I was booked to cover breaks at this museum. Because it's such a large museum, you only see staff whose breaks you're covering. At one point, I saw one of my colleagues I had been thinking of going to her break. Both of us only had time for a hug and a quick chat as I had to cover my next break. Later, my manager asked me if I could stay till the museum closed. I said I was happy to. The galleries I was asked to cover turned out to be next door to the gallery my colleague was working in. So we had an opportunity to have a catchup.
After I finished work, I was hoping to walk with my colleague, but she had to rush off. I planned to catch a bus to this store to do my grocery shopping, but I had a change of heart and decided to walk to Oxford Street and get my grocery from a store there instead. On my way to the checkout, I saw colleague number two, who I had been wondering about, walking right past me. I called him and told him I had been thinking about him. He asked me if I was working at the art gallery that evening and I said no. I told him I was happy to see him.
The next day, I had a break cover shift at another museum. I had planned to catch the local overground train to central London and catch the tube from there. I had a change of heart and decided to travel by bus to the nearest tube station and then travel by tube. I had to change twice. On the last tube train, I was amazed to see the third colleague I had been thinking of standing opposite me, but she was daydreaming and didn't see me. When I called out to her, she ran to me and gave me a hug. It turned out she was working at the same museum, but was starting half an hour early. I told her I had been thinking about her.
At work, a colleague joined us. He told me he was glad to see me as there was something he wanted to ask me. When I checked the rota, I noticed this colleague and I were going to be working together at my first position. I was able to answer his questions and even gave him my contact details in case he needed further information.
Finally, on my last position, I was working with this colleague. While we were chatting, I was able to pass on some information that he had been wondering about.
In a city of 8 million people, only God could have organised my days so perfectly that I not only met the colleagues I had been thinking of, I was also able to be a blessing to two colleagues.
Thank you, God, for being the creator, producer, writer, director, casting agent, actors and extras of my reality TV show. ❤️
* Interesting that the director in The Truman Show is called "Christof" or "of Christ." That's why he thought he was Truman's god. 😀
