Happy New Year and New Day

Image
While most people are celebrating the start of a new year, I am also celebrating day 21,680 since I was born. During that period, I have been born again of the Spirit, which means though I appear to be living in the world, I am living in the Kingdom of God. Thank you, God, for the last 365 days. I look forward to experiencing all the love that You have for me in 2026. Happy Day 21,680 to me. Happy New Year to you all.  God bless. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118: 24 "Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” [4] Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” [5] Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." Fancy Some Pizza?

Image
The other day, I texted a friend to arrange for us to meet up in the new year.  I suggested that I could treat her to pizza. I realised it was because I was craving for some pizza. Another friend was havng a minor procedure done. The medics suggested that he should have someone around him for 24 hours just in case, so he asked if I could be there with him. I said yes. So last night I went to my friend's house. He actually recovered quite quickly.  As he was very hungry, he asked if we could go to the local Turkish restaurant.  I told him I wasn't hungry, but I could bring whatevr I can't finish home.  Whenever I go to that restaurant,  I usually order  rice with chicken shish kebab. While I was browsing the menu,  I noticed they had pizza. I decided to order vegetarian pizza instead, which was delicious. So my pizza craving has been satisfied.  Thank you, God, for meeting that need. ❤️  ------ Relevant Bible verse: "But my God shall supply al...

Taking Control

During my bus journey, this man got on and sat behind me. He smelled so strongly of Cannabis, I had a feeling he was still smoking it. (All forms of smoking is illegal on public transport which I am grateful for).   A man sitting in front of me wih a mask on quickly swapped seats.  I didn't want to swap seats. I didn't think it woukd be wise either to ask him to stop smoking. Instead I reminded myself that God is everywhere present. I repeated "God is all there is." After a few minutes, I could no longer smell the pungent smell. The man was still on the bus when I got off. I can't control people's behaviour but I can certainly control my environment.  ----- Relevant Bible verses: "For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield." Psalm 5: 12 "Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the Lord; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord." Jeremiah 23: 24

Liquid Ice Cream

I fancied some ice vanilla cream, but it was rock solid. After digging a few scoops of it into a bowl, I thought I'd put it in the microwave to soften it up a bit. When I took it out, it was now liquefied. I have to say, it's my first time ever drinking vanilla ice cream.  I had a feeling God was chuckling in and around me. 😀

Faceebook Knows Me So Well

I believe if you want to know what's in someone's heart, check their newsfeed and reels. Apart from the ads, mine are mostly about love of Jesus, Bible teachings and teachers, Christian values, trees, Star Trek, Liverpool FC and cats.  At last, Facebook finally gets me. 😊

Is Your Heart Hardened or Soft?

Image
I've been thinking about what it means to have a hardened heart and what areas of my life are still hardened towards God. When your heart is hardened towards God, you can't see Him operating in and around you. A hardened heart blinds you to God's invisible realm and you only believe in what you can sense physically.  Another thing that hardens the heart is intellectualism. You think the intellect is the holy grail which can solve all of humanity's problems. I believe that's why many people who go to university as Christians end up rejecting God. I did the same. Now that there is AI and we have access to all kinds of knowledge - fact and fiction - at our fingertips, there is no longer any room or need for God's wisdom. Another thing that hardens the heart is our expectation about God.  It is written in the Scriptures that when Jesus was born into His culture, His own people did not recognise him as the Messiah as their hearts were hardened. (John 1: 10-11) Here a...

In Everything Give Thanks

Image
I had planned to hang out with a friend on Christmas Eve, but I woke up with a sore throat so I decided to cancel. The sore throat rapidly developed into a cough and cold. I spent most of Christmas Day in bed. I didn't even have the desire to open my Christmas presents. As my flatmate hasn't been feeling well either, she was also lying low. She decided to make us Christmas dinner on Boxing Day and invite our neighbour.  I didn't join them, I had mine in my bedroom. While all the drama was going on externally, I was secretly reminding myself that on the cross, Jesus took on all sickness of all humanity and gave us His healing. This means I was and am already healed. Why is my body resisting that truth? Last night, while I was having a coughing fit, I reminded myself of a few Bible verses I have memorised. I was inspired to thank God. The Bible teaches that in everything give thanks. I believe when you're thanking God you are magnifying His presence in your experience.  W...

About Acknowledgement and Relationships

Image
After sending birthday wishes to a Facebook friend, she thanked us all for thinking of her and acknowledging her existence, which made me chuckle. I promised to acknowledge her existence the same time next year. Her partner responded that acknowledging her existence comes under their relationship agreement. 😀 Our funny exchange got me thinking about my existence and relationships. The only one Person I know who is constantly acknowledging my existence is God. Jesus even said that God knows how many hairs we have on our heads. That's how intimately God knows each of us.  At Christmas, all Christians celebrate the birth of God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who was born as a human being and sacrificed Himself so all believers can be saved and reconciled with God. I give thanks for my intimate relationship  with God through  Jesus Christ our Lord. Merry Christmas everyone. ❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verses: "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the gove...

The Right Time

A few months ago while I was working at this art centre, I saw an old friend. We exchanged numbers and promised to have a catchup up very soon. We finally met up and went to this bar overlooking the River Thames. It was lovely catching up and sharing where we both are. When we last met briefly in 2006, my friend was going through a major change in her life and I was living with my mum. Even though we intended to stay in touch that never happened. I've often wondered why even though I often thought about her. In the Bible, King Solomon wrote, "To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven:" Ecclesiastes 3: 1 I believe God, who has all time in His hand, knows exactly what seasons we are going through and arranges when to meet up with the people that are meant to be in our lives. Now is the right time. Thank you, God, for reuniting me with my friend. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verse: "My times are in Your hand;" Psalm 31: 15

Truth is the Correct Answer

During my bus journey, I was meditating on God's love. After I got off the bus and was walking to work, I  notced this homeless person wrapped up in a blanket sleeping on the pavement. That particular area of London has many people sleeping rough. The irony is it's in the west end which is full of  tourists and shoppers. If God truly exists and He is love, how come there is so much lack and suffering in the world?    I am reminded when I was studying maths at school.  After a maths test, our teacher would mark our papers.  In maths you either have the right answer or the wrong one. As I wasn't very good at maths, I constantly had red marks indicating I had the wrong answers. The right answer represents truth and the wrong answer represents error.  Back to the question about the homeless and suffering. God is love. The Bible states that God loved humanity so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for all humanity in the past, present and future so the...

Gift Card

While I was looking at how to send a gift card at the Amazon website, the doorbell rang. When I answered it, a man's voice said, "Amazon here!" It turned out he was delivering a package for our neighbour upstairs so I opened the door and let him in. I should have asked him for his assistance.  God really has a sense of humour. 😀

My Creepy Crawly Friend

While I was in the staff toilet, I noticed this tiny creepy crawly on the floor. (It wasn't a spider, ant or fly).  Anyway, I said hello to it. As it was crawling towards me, I stepped back, but it kept coming. When I moved sideways, it moved towards me. When I moved back, it moved towards me. After I finished using the toilet, I opened the door to let it out and told it I had to go back to work.  It got me wondering how the insect saw me. Why did it keep moving towards me? Maybe, it thought I was light. Well, Jesus did say we are the light of the world.  Nice to see someone recognises my light. 😀☀️ ---- Relevant Bble verses: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16

In God’s Head

At this museum I was working at, I noticed this cute toddler walking ahead of his  mum, exploring that gallery. I said to his mum, "I wonder what's going on in his head?" "I have no idea," she said. "I'm sure it's really nice being in there." I loved that thought. I can imagine the baby's head is full of love and joy.  It got me thinking about what it's like in God's head. I believe in God's head, there is infinite love as He is love. Therefore, when God thinks about me, which He always is, He is thinking of me with love.  In the Bible, I can see how much God loves me and how He expressed His love by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for me so I can have everlasting life with Him. (John 3: 16) Because of Jesus's sacrifice on the cross, God is constantly thinking: - how much He loves me;  - how to show His love for me; - how to express His love in and through me; - how to bless me;   - how beautiful and perf...

Two Types of People

Before I went to work, I decided to stop off at this shopping centre to buy some food for lunch. I had to go through one shopping centre to get to the one I wanted. The first centre has lots of heavy doors you have to push to get through. I was walking right behind this man. After the man pushed the first door, he left the door open for me. I also left the door open for the person behind me. He did the same for the second door and I made sure I left the door open for the person behind me. Ditto the third door. At the last door, although I was now about two seconds behind the man, he waited for me with the door open. I thanked him and left the door open for the person behind me. I then went to do my shopping in the other shopping centre. On the way back I walked through the doors for the disabled where you can push the button and it opens for you. I noticed this man on the other side  pushing the door and walking through. He didn't bother to check if there was someone behind him. Th...

Nine Lessons and Carols

Image
This evening, I attended the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols service. The church was packed full. I enjoyed belting out those Carols. "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" is one of my favourites.  I also love the nine Bible lessons.  I remember reading the 9th Lesson (John 1: 1-14) many years ago at a Carol service. I still remember those verses and they made me fall in love with the Gospel of John. It's wonderful to be reminded every year what Christmas is really about. Thank you, Jesus. ❤️

All Black

When I start wondering what to wear for work, I jazz things up a bit and wear.... more black. 😀 Thank God for uniforms and black outfits. ❤️

A Real Gentleman

As I was walking to the tube station, I was thinking about how I am walking in Jesus Christ. My walk felt very gentle. When I got on the tube, there were no seats left so I found a place to stand. Suddenly, I felt this gentle hand on my shoulder. When I turned round, I realised the hand belonged to this man who had got up and was offering me his seat.  I thanked him and sat down. Right at that moment, I felt the gentlemanliness of Jesus expressing through that man. Thank you, Jesus, for being a real Gentleman.  ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. [25] Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. [26] And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, [27] so that...

Candy Dance

Image
I was working at another corporate Christmas party. This particular crowd was quite formal and seemed more interested in chatting than the music. Eventually, the DJ managed to get some of them on to the dance floor. The funniest part, for me, was when the DJ played the Candy song and was encouraging all of them to participate in the Candy dance. That didn't go down too well. 😀 I don't think the DJ had the right playlist for that particular audience.  It didn't stop me having a good workout to a few of the songs. Our boss even invited us to the kitchen to have food as they had so much leftover and I had some.  Perk of the job. Thank you, God, for another fun job. ❤️ Here's an old video of people dancing to the Candy song.

The Problem with AI

Image
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of technology, but I also believe they should be used to glorify God not used to mimic or replace God.   Caution is advised in their use. Here's a very interesting video about why we should be cautious about AI.

Lord of the Manor

Image
My flatmate told me when Zeus fell asleep on her coat, she didn't have the heart to wake him up so she wore another coat instead.  I said to her, "You are spoling that cat. I would have woken him up and got him off my coat." Having said that, there have been times when Zeus has been asleep on my lap and I have stifled my cough as I didn't want to disturb him as he doesn't like us coughing near him. Yep, that cat is in control. Thank you, God, for Zeus. ❤️ Here's a photo, taken today, of Zeus living his best life. 😀

All I Want for Christmas

Image
I've already attended four Christmas parties over this party season. I believe there's a few more to come. No, I haven't been invited to those parties, I have actually been working as an events co-host at corporate Christmas parties. We work with the duty and events manager to make sure the guests are happy and, of course, ensure the art is kept safe.  I haven't just been standing around watching guests enjoy themselves. Whenever a song comes on that I like, I've been showing the youngsters my auny dance moves. I've also been offered food by hospitality, but I have always declined. So far, all the DJs at these parties have played that famous Mariah Carey song, "All I Want for Christmas." One corporate party had a live band and they also sang it. Naturally, all the guests sing along to the song. When no one invites you to a Christmas party, why not work at one? You get to have fun and get paid as well. In response to that song, all I want for Christmas...

Christmas Tree

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..." My flatmate has put  the Christmas tree up with decorations.  Thank you, God, for my flatmate. ❤️

Food for Thought

Image
While I was walking home with some food I had bought, I thought I'd store some in the freezer that I can have on my next two days off. I then thought about the pasta cheese salad. I could have it when I get home or save it and have it for lunch tomorrow at work. Then I thought, why am I taking so much thought about food. Jesus has taught us that we shouldn't worry about what to eat or drink as our Father God will always provide. Tomorrow will take care of itself. (Matthew 6:25-34) I stopped thinking about it. The moment I got home, my flatmate told me she had just cooked some roast chicken with potatoes. She had leftovers if I fancied some.   Yes, please! Within a few minutes I was sitting at the dining table enjoying the meal.8 Thank you, God. ❤️ I will take the pasta cheese salad to work and have  it for lunch tomorrow. 😊 ----- Related Bible verses: “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, wha...

Staying in Your Lane

Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He asked Peter three times if He loved Him  Jesus then told Peter:  "Feed My sheep."  (John 21: 15-19) That was Jesus's unique mission for Peter. Peter then asked Jesus about His beloved disciple, John.   "Jesus said to him, 'If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.'" John 21: 22 In other words, Jesus was saying to Peter that he was to focus on his own mission instead of concerning himself about what others are doing. That is a very important lesson for all of Jesus's disciples. Each of us has been given a unique mission. In other words, God has a plan for each of us and we must stay in our own lane. We must never compare our mission to another's mission.  What all believers in Christ have in common is we all follow Christ and we love and support each other. I am walking in my own unique lane in Christ. ❤️ ----- Relevant Bible verse: "For I know the plans I have for you,” de...
