Twinning

Image
I haven't travelled on the overground trains since they gave them all new names. Today, I travelled on the Mildmay Line. I noticed the seats on that train matched my glasses case, which I got at the London Transport Museum shop. That's what I call twinning. 😀

Patience Vobe

Image
While I was working at this evening event, I asked one  guest if he was having fun. He told me he was. He said to me, "You're giving off a patience vibe." "Really?" "People give off different vibes," he said. ""I've been told I give off a grace vibe." He then shook my hand and told me it was nice to meet me. Actually, patience is one of the virtues I struggle with. I reckon he must have been feeling the patience/longsuffering vibe of the Holy Spirit in me.❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against s.uch there is no law." Galatians 5: 22-23 Here is a selfie of me at work giving off the vibe. 😀

In Everything Give Thanks

At work I had on thermals, a long sleeve shirt, my uniform, trousers, socks, a fleece jacket and a scarf and I was still cold. Thank God! ❤️ I'd rather be cold than feeling hot and bothered from hot flushes. 🙏 ---- Relevant Bible verse: "in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." I Thessalonians 5:18

A friend and I went for afternon tea at this bar overlooking the River Thames. I actually had hot chocolate. Thank you, God, for Your constant love. ❤️

On Earth as in Heaven

Image
When I looked at Facebook Memories and saw photos of my mum, Isa, for a moment I wondered why. It wasn't her birthday. It was then I remembered that 23 October 2014 was when mum passed away. Because mum was/is a Christian, I know she is in Heaven with our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Isa is in Heaven and I am here to experience God's Kingdom here on earth.  Love you, mum!  Thank you for sharing your love of Jesus with me. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6: 9-10 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3: 16 "Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”" John 11: 25-26

The Lord is My Companion

Image
I couldn't sleep as I was thinking of my job and how I didn't feel equipped, as my employer still hadn't provided the resources I had asked for. I was even thinking of the conversation I was going to have with my manager. After several hours of tossing and turning mentally and physically, I reminded myself that Jesus is Lord of all aspects of my life. I then repeated the following verse: "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want" (Psalm 23: 1) until I fell asleep. I was feeling really peaceful when I woke up the next morning.  Later, when I got on the train, it was packed full so I had to stand. Two stops down, a passenger got off near where I was standing. This young man, who was standing next to the vacant seat, asked me if I wanted to sit down. I said yes and thanked him. The first thing I noticed was the seat in front of me was a "companion seat" for a wheelchair user travelling with their companion.  It was the first time I'd  seen it and I took...

Love Dissolves Grudges

Image
The following post was previously shared on Facebook on 21.10.2018. It is a great reminder about the power of Love.  I have added relevant Bible verses. ---- 21.10.2018 After having a heated conversation with a friend, when we parted company, I was feeling very hurt.  To calm myself down, I affirmed "Love dissolves grudges and grievances" a few times. About two hours later, the same friend called me back. I was expecting another row but his voice sounded totally different. He said he was feeling a lot more peaceful and happier. He also said me he's feeling inspired to read the Bible (which he hasn't done in ages) as he feels it might help him grow spiritually.  Blimey! That's the power of Divine Love. It melts the hardest of hearts!  💗 ---- Relevant Bible verses: "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave yo...

Only God is Infallible

At the staffroom, I was chatting to a colleague about AIs.  I said it's amazing how many people are trusting in AIs to run their lives. My colleague said instead of booking tickets through the museum's website, some visitors have been using AI apps to book tickets for the exhibition and they end up either booking the wrong tickets or being given the wrong information. Later, while I was invigilating at a gallery in the same museum, I asked visitors to carry their rucksacks in front to avoid hitting the contents. When I asked this man and he put his ruckdack in front of him, the alarm on his phone went off. He told me what the alarm on his phone meant. Apparently, because he was no longer carrying his rucksack on his back, the device had sounded the alarm as it "thought" he had fallen on his face. 😊 AI apps and technology are useful tools, but we must always remember that they are fallible just like their human creators. Only God is infallible. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible ...

God is Good

Image
A few days ago, our boiler packed up. At least it didn't happen in mid-winter. It's going to take a few days to get it fixed. In the meantime, our landlord has provided portable electric heaters for our bedrooms. God is good.❤️ Smile, even though you're freezing. 😀

DeeJay

Image
When a friend told me he was looking after his daughter's dog, DeeJay, I had to visit as I haven't seen him (the dog that is) in ages. We took DeeJay for a nice walk around their neighbourhood. I even walked him. It was so cute the way he kept stopping to sniff around and pee. When we got back to my friend's house, DeeJay wanted to lick my hands. Apparently, that's his thing. After giving both hands a thorough bath, he wanted to do the same to my face, but I refused.  He still managed to get a few licks around my cheek and lips, the cheeky monkey. 😀 Thank you, God, for my friends. ❤️ Here are some photos I took of DeeJay. He's the cutest Chihuahua ever. He's actually the only Chihuahua I've ever known. 😊

Receiving and Received

When I work at museums, galleries and art centres, we are given radios to communicate with the duty manager/DM. To communicate, you announce your position and ask the DM if they are receiving. The DM responds and ask you to send your message.  If the DM is sending the message, you respond by saying "received." When I receive a message from the DM, I act on the message, and vice versa. Put another way, if you do not act on the message, it means you haven't received it. The Bible is full of thousands of messages from God to help us lead a godly life. Every time we receive a message, it means we have understood and are acting on that message or are applying it to our daily life.  Thank you, God, for Your messages in the Bible. I am receiving them now. Amen. ❤️ ------ Relevant Bible verses: "And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21: 22 "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those w...

The Gift of Time

At an event I was working at, I was  managing this theatre. Before the talks started, I checked to see how many talks there were on each day and how long each talk was supposed to last. I noticed there were five talks, each one lasting for an hour.  That meant there was not going to be any turnaround time for me to clear out the theatre for the next speaker. The sound engineer also needed time to do his sound checks and to make sure the next speaker's presentation has been downloaded. It was up to me to manage the times. So I told each speaker that I was giving them 50 minutes and I will signal to them when they've got 10 minutes left, then 5 minutes and when to finish. If I hadn't taken control and managed the time, it would have been utter chaos.  Because I had insisted on time limits, the speakers were happy to stick to their time slots, the sound engineer had all the time he needed to do his job, and I had time to organise the space. I noticed my colleague on the n...

Asking God for a Film Festival Shift

Every year, around this time, there is the London film festival. I always like working on at least one day of the festival, but it all depends on whether I can get a shift or not. Usually, permanent staff at the theatre hosting the festival are gven priority and the remainder of the shifts are allocated to agency staff. So I asked God to give me an opportunity to work at the festival.  I soon received an email for some shifts at another venue. I responded to say I was available.  My agency got back to me to let me know those shifts were no longer available, however,  she could offer me a shift at another venue...the one that was hosting the film festival. I said yes. On the day of my shift, I notced I was the only agency staff. I was allocated a shift working in the cloakroom, but I asked the duty manager to swap my position. I ended up working inside the theatre. I did get to see one film, but it wasn't my cup of tea. At least I did work in the festival. Thank you, God, ...

My Friend, Ingrid

So I was thinking of an old friend called Ingrid. (I now live in the area where she used to live). When I was in my late teens to early twenties, we used to hang out with her two brothers and a group of other friends. We would go clubbing on a Friday night and on Saturday evenings we would either go to the pub or hang out at another friend's house. I wondered how ingrid was. Was she married, got kids, still in the UK? Would I even recognise her now if I saw her again? The next day after I finished work, I stopped off at this  store to get some grocery. I then went to catch the bus home.  I noticed the area was very crowded. I sat next to this elderly looking lady (possibly in her seventies) and checked the bus app for my next bus. The app said the bus I wanted wasn't stopping at that stop, but I could catch it at a stop about a mile away. I noticed the lady next to me was looking at the bus map on her phone. I asked her what bus she was waiting for and she told me. I then ...

His Way or Our Way?

Image
According to the Bible, before we were born, God had already written our book of life experiences. (Psalm 139: 15-16), However, God has given us freewill to choose whether we want to live His way or to do things our way. (Deuteronomy 30:19) The good news is it's never too late to repent and surrender to God and experience the life He has prepared for us. Here's one example. A few days ago, a photo from 6.10.2019 popped up in my Facebook Memories taken when I was last in an area of London called the Docklands. I was actually attending an exhibition at this venue. Fast forward, six years later today (on 9.10.2025), I went for induction at the same venue where I had attended the exhibition. I didn't arrange the date, my employer "picked" the induction date. What is even more amazing is that  it occurred on the same week I had been at the venue six years ago. I believe God had written this opportunity in my book of life for when I was ready to receive it and it was He...

Spirit Walking

Yesterday, I planned to do some grocery shopping.  After doing my laundering and some household chores, I realised it was way too soon to tackle grocery shopping, so I left it for another day. This morning I went out to do my grocery shopping. It was the first time I had been out since I was off sick.  As I was walking to the supermarket, which is only about five minutes walk from our building, I noticed I was feeling very light. I know I've lost a bit of weight, but I wasn't feeling my body.  It was like I was a spirit and I was gliding. When I'm not feeling well, I really do go deep into the Bible to get inspiration and spend time praying. (I also spent a lot of time on Facebook and watching stuff on my laptop).  I was reminded of the following Bible verse: "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." John 6: 63 It makes sense why I was feeling so light as the Word is spirit.  Imagin...

God's Eternal Blessing

“The Lord bless you and keep you;  The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;  The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6: 24-26

Spiritual Attacks

Over the last three days, I've had a cold and cough. I've had to turn down work which meant losing income. As my treatment, I've been dosing myself with the Scriptures, reminding myself that I am healed by Jesus' stripes. I've even commanded the spirit of infirmity to leave in Jesus name, but my flesh has been resisting the truth. Although I was almost  back to my full physical strength, I was still coughing. Last night, I asked the Holy Spirit why I kept getting colds. What am I doing wrong, Lord? I instantly found myself reciting Psalm 91, (the Protection Psalm), which I have memorised. After I finished it, I asked the Holy Spirit (HS) if I'm meant to protect myself with this Psalm. He said yes as I am being spiritually attacked. He reminded me of Ephesians 6: 12: "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heav...

The Holy Spirit as Converter

My flatmate and I were discussing her cat, Zeus, and whether he was putting on weight. I picked Zeus up and said, "He seems fine to me." "He's about 6 kilos?" she said. "I don't know what kilos are," I said. "I don't know what stones are," she said. It got me thinking about the Bible. Trying to understand the Bible is rather like having a "kilos" mentality and trying to understand it in "stones." The only way to understand it is by using a converter. The Holy Spirit is the Converter and He will help you understand what you're reading. However, in order to have access to the Holy Spirit, you need to be saved i.e. have received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Jesus has promised that He will pray for the Father to give us the Holy Spirit as our Helper, who will live in all believers forever. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for being my eternal Converter. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "If you love Me, keep My command...

Saved By Grace

As Christians, we are saved by grace through faith. In other words, salvation is not based on your good  works, how many people you have brought to Christ, or how popular you were in this world.  Once you have taken your last breath, where your soul ends up depends on whether you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour or rejected Him.  You could have been a life criminal and still end up with Jesus if you have repented and accepted Jesus.  For instance, while Jesus was being crucified, he had two criminals hanging beside Him. One mocked Jesus while the other believed in Jesus as the Christ and asked Jesus to remember him when He comes into His kingdom. Jesus assured the criminal that he will be with Him in paradise. I know I have everlasting life in Christ, not because of my good works but because of my faith in Jesus Christ. ❤️ ------ Relevant Bible verses: "Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Ass...

His Yoke is Easy and His Butden is Light

Image
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30

Early Start

Image
Early start this morning at 5.30 am. When I took this photo, I was all alone at my local train station. I am grateful to have God's constant love and protection. I also give thanks for God's provision manifested as public transport. Blessings to all. ❤️
