Friends Reunited

During our briefing, the duty manager gave us our rotas. I checked to see where I would be working hoping it would be inside the theatre. My heart sank when I saw where I was working - sales. In that position, you sell sweets, snacks and ice cream, which usually gets very busy during the interval.7

After the briefing, I told the sales supervisor that I've only worked in that position once before. She assured me she would show me what to do.

I found myself getting stressed because the lights in the auditorium were really dark and I was struggling to read the products with my reading glasses on.

While we were waiting for customers, someone walked by and called my name. I was delighted to see it was an old friend, who I'd lost touch with. The last time I saw her was over 15 years ago and we didn't have smartphones then. After exchanging warm hugs, I asked for her number and we promised to catch up soon.

After my friend left, I told my supervisor that I had been panicking about being in that position, but something good has come out of it. I got to see an old friend and I thanked God.

When the customers did come and it got busy, I really struggled. My supervisor told me to let the duty manager know not to put me in that position as I have impaired vision.

I spoke to the duty manager and she understood and said they will make sure I am not put in that position in future. They then let me leave an hour early.

While I do need reading glasses, it all depends on the lighting.  I struggle with unnatural lights that they have in theatres. When  I got on the tube home, which has fluorescent lighting, I could read my phone perfectly without my reading glasses. Later on the bus, I could also read without glasses as the lights are bright.

God makes everything work out for good for those who love Him. (Romans 8: 28) In my "dark" moment, He reunited me with a dear beloved friend and made me leave work early.

Thank you, God! ❤️
