The Show Must Go On

I've been working at this live family theatre show, which consists of two actors, one understudy, the stage manager and our team of hosts who ensure visitors enjoy their experience.

Over the last few weeks, I've got to know the actors and stage manager. One morning, one actor said he was feeling really tired. I said to him, "You might be tired, but the characters you are playing are not."

"At least, I'm the one who is getting paid," he chuckled.

A few days ago, the same actor started feeling unwell. He said he felt really dizzy on stage. When it was my turn to host inside the theatre, I kept an eye on him, but he seemed fine.

By the next day, the actor was feeling worse. I noticed when the actor was being himself, he was sneezing.   From time to time, while he was off stage, I would hear him blowing his nose. Not once did I see him sneeze or cough while he was in character.

I started experiencing the same symptoms as well which developed into a cough.

At the end of one show, I told the actor that I have noticed his characters are not sick. He told me he has been trained to express his voice and his body in a different way compared to the way he does naturally.

It got me thinking about the Bible verse (Galatians 2: 20) that I had been meditating on for several days, which states that as a Christian, I was crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who lives, but Christ is living in me.

I believe Christ living in me is rather like the characters in that actor who are not affected by his sickness.

As my cold was getting worse, I kept reminding myself that Christ, the Living God, lives in me.  Christ in me has already healed all diseases. (1 Peter 2: 24)  However, the flesh was fighting against this Truth.

Last night I was coughing so much, when I woke up in the middle of the night, I had a sore throat and I had lost my voice. In my thought,  I called on the name of Jesus. Within a few minutes, my voice was back to normal.

Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus!

Because of Christ living in me, His show will always go on. ❤️

"I say then: Walk in the
