Tongue Twister

A Spanish colleague I was working with was teaching me how to say Spanish tongue twisting words.  He showed me how to roll my tongue. As hard as I tried, I couldn't do it.  I did have fun trying though. Rolling my tongue is one skill I have no interest in learning. Thanks anyway. 😀

The Timekeeper

While I was getting ready for work, I was wondering why it was still dark. It was then I remembered that the clocks had gone forward.  British summer time starts today. I don"t like using  clock alarms as they startle me too much. I know that's the whole purpose of alarms, but I prefer a more peaceful  wake-up call. I  would rather trust in the Holy Spirit, the Timekeeper, to wake me up on time, which He always does. Thank you, Lord, for being the Keeper who never sleeps. (Psalm 121: 4) ♥️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep." Psalm 121: 3-4

Happy Mother's Day

Image
Happy Mother's Day to all mums in whatever capacity, whether you're still with us or beyond the veil.  God bless you all.♥️ Ps: As I no longer have an earthly mum, I was inspired to give my flatmate this Mother's Day card from her cat son, Zeus. 😀 (Her daughter is actually visiting). ❤️

A Long Life of Service

While I was working with a volunteer, he told me it was his birthday today. I told him it was also my late mum's birthday. I asked him how old he was and he said 92. He was so sprightly for his age, he put me to shame. Another volunteer I worked with was in his 80s and he was very hard working. Just because you're a certain age doesn't mean you stop being productive. As a Christian I believe I have eternal life through God's Son, Jesus Christ. (1 John 5: 12)  As God's life is constant activity, there's always going to be a way I can serve.  Therefore, retirement is not an option. Thank God for my work colleagues for showing me what a long life of service looks like. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. [12] He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." I John 5:11-12

Take No Thought

Image
At the venue I'm working at this week, we are allowed to wear normal, colourful, clothes. Yesterday,  I wore a pink top. I found myself thinking about what to wear the next day and the next. Jesus said, take no thought about what you're going to wear or eat.  (Matthew 6: 25). Yep, I've been giving way too much thought to what to wear to work. I can't be dealing with that  So today, I'm back to my all black uniform. Peace at last! Thank you, God, for giving us black uniforms. 😀❤️ ---- "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?" Matthew 6: 25, KJV

Happy Birthday, Mum!

Image
On earth, today would have been your birthday.  I believe in heaven, where you now are, there are no birthdays, there are simply enjoyment of ever new joy. Still, I am celebrating you  today. Thank you for bequeathing me the greatest inheritance ever - your love for Jesus Christ.  I'll be loving you forever, Isa.  ❤️

The Two Cats

Image
When I came out of my bedroom, I was expecting to see Zeus (my flatmate's cat), but he wasn't around. I presumed he was outside in the garden. I noticed the stray cat that my flatmate and I have been feeding was sitting outside the door. Zeus was sitting near him. I opened the door and let Zeus in. The stray cat seemed to understand that I wasn't going to let him in and he walked away. When Zeus came in, I petted him and gave him some food. As soon as he finished eating, he went straight to my bedroom and hopped on my bed. The two cats got me thinking of our different identities. The Bible teaches us that God gave His only Son, Jesus, to die for all of humanity and whoever believes in Jesus has everlasting life. (John 3: 16)  In other words, God extended His gift of salvation through Jesus Christ to everyone who chooses to receive His gift.  The Bible also teaches us that those who receive Jesus's salvation and believe in His name become children of God (John 1: 12) and...

The Lord Will Provide

Image
The other day, I noticed the  charging cable on my laptop was no longer working.  The next day, I went to a tech shop and asked if they sold the charger. They had this universal charging cable that cost £30. I was reluctant to pay that much. After they offered me a £5 discount, I decided to get it. On my way to meet my friend, I thought to myself that I had been overcharged for that cable. I reminded myself that it is the Lord who has provided the money for the cable and He will continue to provide. (Genesis 22: 14) When I told my friend how much the cable had cost, he also thought it was expensive.  We then went for a long walk and stopped off at this park.  After that, he treated me to lunch. Later we walked back to his place, where I had left the cable.  Before I left, my friend gave me some vegetable curry he had cooked. I had half of the curry with rice today and will have the remainder another day. God really does provide.  After being over-charged (n...

Loving the Stray Cat

I noticed the stray cat, my flatmate has been feeding, was sitting outside the back door. He was obviously looking for more food. I gave him a packet of Zeus' food, but I served it in another bowl. The cat wanted to come in, but I refused. I  placed the bowl outside.  Although Zeus (my flatmate's cat) saw me feeding the stray, he didn't seem to mind at all. After a while, I noticed the cat was back at the back door. I wondered if he'd finished the food and wanted some more.  I checked the bowl and saw he had hardly touched the food. "Aren't you hungry?" I said to him. After I gently stroked him, he started eating. Oh I see, he was not just looking for food, he wanted some affection. No wonder the poor thing looks so skinny. He probably isn't been shown human affection wherever he's from. My flatmate told me when she tried to stroke him before, he had hissed at her. I was actually praying for the cat this morning. Maybe, that's why he let me str...

Chauvinism

While I was waiting for my friend, I noticed this man walking his Poodle dog. "What a cute dog you have there," I said. I reached out and let the dog sniff my hand. He then let me stroke his head. "He's a bit of a chauvinist," the man said. "He only likes women." "So you like the ladies, do you?" I said to the dog. "Well, I don't get wolf-whistles from men anymore so I'll take what I can get from you." The man burst out laughing and told me it was nice to meet me.  I love chauvinist dogs. 😀❤️

Let There Be Light!

Image
"You are the light of the world....Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5: 14, 16 ---- While I was waiting at the bus stop for my final bus home, I was meditating on what it means to have been "called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1 Peter 2: 9) and my identity as the light of the world (Matthew 5: 14). When my bus arrived, I went to sit right at the back at the lower deck. I continued mediating on those Bible verses. At one point, I noticed the bus was in darkness and the bus was quite full. Why hasn't the driver put the light on? I thought, God, please turn the light on! When nothing happened, I walked to the front. I waited till the driver stopped at the next stop. I then asked him to switch the light on. He apologised and switched it on. I don't think he was aware we were in darkness. I then went to sit down until we arrived at my stop. While Jesus is the...

Kindness

On the way to work, I stopped off at this  supermarket to buy a sandwich and a drink to have for my lunch.  This paticular store is so tiny, they only have a one way system. On the way out, you pay for your stuff at the till. I noticed one assistant was very kind to everyone and wished everyone a good day. I wished her a good day as well. The next morning I was there, I was served again by the same assistant and she was very nice. On day 3, I didn't see the assistant. This time, I was served by this man and I didn't get the same warmth from him.  On day 4, I was back at the shop. I was pleased to see my friend was back. While she was serving me I told her I had missed her the day before as she is so lovely. She said it was her day off and thanked me for my kind words. Kindness is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. (Galatians 5: 22) It's amazing what a difference it makes when someone is kind. It changes the whole environment.  I hope that store realises what a valu...

Out of Darkness into Light

Image
Reminder to self: "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;" 1 Peter 2: 9 Image of Jesus courtesy of Google Images but I have added my photo and Bible verse.

Waste Not, Want Not!

While I was alone with Zeus, my flatmate's cat, he started begging me for food. "You've still got food in your bowl," I said. "Finish it and I'll give you some more." "Miaow!" Zeus said. "No, you are really spoilt, Zeus! There are starving cats out there and you are wasting your food." "Miaow!" "I can't hear you!" I said and walked away. Zeus followed me to my bedroom. I relented and gave him some dry food. The very next day, this skinny looking cat turned up outside the back door. My flatmate told me he came before and she fed him. Usually, Zeus can be very territorial, but he didn't seem to mind this cat sitting near him. I told my flatmate that the day before I was telling Zeus that there are hungry cats who are desperate for the food he's wasting. My flatmate decided to feed the other cat with some of Zeus' wet food and his leftovers. Waste not, want not! 😀 Before my flatmate fed the ...

Nice Trip Down Memory Lane

Image
So I decided to explore an area of London I used to live over 25 years ago.  I had to ask for directions as I couldn't remember the way. This young man showed me this route which was a long-winded way to get there.   The actual village was still the same.  They still had the famous public school and the church up the hill. When I finally arrived at the street where I lived for almost six years, I couldn't recognise the cottage. I had to look up the house number. On the way back to the bus station, I walked down this familiar path up this hill, but when I got down the hill, I had to ask for directions again to the bus station. It took me about 15 minutes to walk to the local bus/tube station.  Back in the day, I used to wear high heels to work. How did I manage to walk all that way in heels? There were times when I would run up the steps to the tube station. This time, I thanked God for giving me the energy to walk up those steps. I realised who I was then is no ...

God's Goodness Follows Me Everywhere

Image
Years ago, I asked a friend to create this image for me. I believe the carrots represent God's goodness chasing all believers in Christ. ❤️ I have added the Bible verse. Image by Sandy Hames

Yah in the House

At this exhibition I was working at, I had to stand up for hours.  I was singing to myself that Christ is my life and He's giving me strength. At one point, I noticed a visitor wearing a cap with the word: "YWHW." "Is that Yahweh on your cap?" I asked her. "Yes, do you know Him?" "Of course, I do," I said. "I have been calling on the Lord to give me strength." "When your feet hurt, you call on Him, and when you are feeling tired, you call on Him, right?" she said. "That's right!" I said. After scanning her badge, she wished me well and entered the exhibition. Wow, how wonderful to meet a kindred spirit. At the end of my shift, a colleague gave me a lift all the way to my front door. When I arrived home, my flatmate was entertaining  her daughter and her daugher's boyfriend. She invited me to join them for dinner. Thank you, Lord, for giving me Your strength and blessings. ----- Relevant Bible verses: ...

Emergency Staircase

While I was working at this art centre, I had to check one emergency staircase by walking down all the way from the fifth floor. After I got downstairs and checked the emergency doors, I could either get out, walk around the building and get the lift up or walk up the stairs. I decided to walk up. Every single step I took, I reminded myself that Christ is my life. There must have been over 70 steps there. Although my legs did start to hurt  when I got up, I wasn't breathless. Within a minute I was back to normal. Thank you, Lord, for giving me Your strength. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.  Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their ...

Wembley Concert

While I was welcoming visitors into the art gallery I was working at, a couple entered the gallery. As the  man had a suitcase, I told him he could leave his suitcase in the cloakroom. A few hours later, I saw the couple leaving. After asking them for their feedback, I asked the man why he was carrying a suitcase. He said he and his wife were on their way to Wembley to watch a concert of this singer I'd never heard of. The man said he hadn't heard of him either, but his wife was obviously a fan. He said they were staying overnight at a hotel. I told the man the last time I attended a concert at Wembley was to see Madonna. The man said he also saw her at Wembley. When he told me who was supporting the pop star, I realised it was the same concert I had been to way back in the 1990s.  I told him we waited for hours for the concert to start. He said he also had a long wait. We realised we could have attended on the same day. We were both amazed. Thank you, God, for that wonder...

Ash Wednesday

I attended the Ash Wednesday service this morning, signifying the beginning of Lent. God bless all. ❤️

Pulling at My Heart Strings

Image
My flatmate was telling me that her cat, Zeus, knows how to push her buttons to get her to do exactly what he wants. She said Zeus knows he can't do the same with me, as I'm stricter with him. That's what she thinks.  Sometimes, that cat can wrap me around his little paws. Today, he was   pulling so hard at my heart strings, I let him get away with stuff, good and proper. I guess he had me at miaow.🐈  I'll be back in my boss chair tomorrow, as I'm not going to be around for him to manipulate me. 😊

I Stand with Christ

Image
I believe it is a good thing to stand for and stand with what you believe is right. I stand with Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. I believe Jesus is the solution to all of our problems. God bless everyone.  ❤️ ------ "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14: 6

Divine Timing

Image
Ten years ago, I had a desire to work on a particular project. At the time the "door" was closed and I couldn't see a way around it. So I let it go. Recently, I was given an opportunity to pursue the same project. I'm not going to say anything more until it happens. This post is a timely reminder about why it's important not to force things but to let God work things out in His own Divine timing if that is His will for you. God bless. ❤️

Our Daily Bread

Image
"Give us this day our daily bread." Matthew 6: 11 ----- The last two days I've had a cold and cough.  When I first started experiencing the symptoms, I reminded myself that I am already healed (Isaiah 53: 5); and God wants me well (3 John 1: 2). The Holy Spirit also brought to my attention that I had been fearful of catching my flatmate's cold and cough which she's had for a while.  I reminded myself that God hasn't given me the Spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1: 7). After praying and meditating on the Scriptures, I expected to be well, but it was taking a while for my flesh to receive my healing.  When I woke up this morning, I was feeling weak and I didn't feel like going to church. I put on my laptop to listen to some Christian sermons.  Someone mentioned something about life.  It got me wondering, "Who exactly is feeling tired?" I thought about what Paul had said in Galatians 2: 20: "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who liv...

God is Spoiling Me

Image
My flatmate made me a nice lunch today - turkey breast with Sauerkraut and sauce. Thank you, God, for spoiling me through my flatmate. ❤️ ---- Relevant Bible verses: "For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield." Psalm 5: 12 "You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance."
