Light Burdens

In preparation for an event I was going to be working at, where they were expecting over 50,000 visitors, I thanked God in advance for His strength to keep me going and for making every day easy, fun and wonderful.

I was inspired to meditate on the Bible verses where Jesus asks us to cast our cares and burdens on Him and He will give us His burden which is light. (See Bible verses below).

It got me thinking that the things that limit us are matter, time and space. Where there is none of those, you are only left with light. Light is boundless, free and limitless. Is it any wonder whyJesus said His burden is light?

As we had been warned that the area of the exhibition hall where I was going to be working would be chlly, I made sure I had layers on.

While I was on my break, I met a friend who was also working at the event. When she held my hands, she told me they were freezing and said I must be cold. I told her I was fine. A few minutes later, I bumped into one of the managers. I said to her, "They tell me I'm cold. What do you think?" After holding my hands, she said my hands were freezing and I should make sure I wear gloves the next day.

I found it quite bizarre to be told that I was cold, while I was perfectly fine. Besides, I am light and light is neither hot nor cold.

As the days went by, I was noticing my colleagues looking physically drained. If you think you are the source of your energy, then you're going to be drained while you're working around thousands of people, doing repetitive work and expected to welcome guests with a smile.

I was feeling energised because I know my energy doesn't come from me or food, it comes from Christ in me, who has inexhaustible energy.

When you know the Joy of the Lord is your strength, He not only keeps you joyful, He gives you His strength to keep going.

For me, the event was easy, fun and wonderful.  I got to meet old friends and make new ones. Even when I had challenges, I was able to handle them with Grace.

When you know your identity is in Christ, you no longer think, act or feel like the world does.

Thank you, God, for giving me Your joy, light and strength. ❤️
