When Blessings Overtake You

In the Old Testament, God told His people, through His prophet, Moses, that if they keep His commandments His blessings will overtake them. (Deutoronomy 28: 1-14). God also warned them of the curses they would experience if they disobeyed His commandments. (Deutoronomy 28: 15-68)

As His people were not able to keep God’s commandments, they experienced the curses. 

God then sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who was able to obey all of God's commandments on behalf of all who believe in Him. Therefore, those who believe in Jesus get to experience all those blessings and are redeemed from the curses.

I've been thinking about what it means for "all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you..." (Deutoronomy 28: 2).

Usually, while I'm travelling on the bus, other buses and cars overtake the bus I'm on. For another bus or car to overtake the bus I'm on, they have to be travelling behind the bus and caught up with the bus.  

I believe when you're being overtaken by blessings, blessings are following you, catching up with you and then going in front of you to make everything work out for the best in the future. 

Examples of blessings I experienced today:

I didn't see my flatmate yesterday evening as I got home around 11.30pm. When I saw her this morning and we were having a quick catch-up, she told  me she had a surprise for me. She handed me a woolly hooded night dress.  Actually, the gift was from our neighbour, who is also my flatmate's friend. I quickly tried it on and it not only felt comfortable, it fitted perfectly. My flatmate took a photo of me wearing the dress and sent it to our neighbour.

I then attended a service at my local church. A dear friend also attended the service. After church, she treated me to lunch.

Thank you, God, for blessing me through my neighbour and friend.

God's blessings, through Jesus Christ, are constantly following me, catching up with me and overtaking me. Amen. ❤️

An Easy Day

Before I went to work at this museum, I thanked God for an easy, fun and wonderful day. Half of my time was spent working in the gallery, where I was invigilating, and in the shop serving customers.  Although it was really busy with a constant flow of visitors and kids, I found it easy as God was working in me and through me My work colleagues were also very nice and helpful and I enjoyed working with them. I also enjoyed chatting to the parents and their kids. While I was tidying up an area of the gallery, I found this soft toy and I gave it to a colleague to look after. Later, I saw this boy sitting in the cafe with his mum and sister. I noticed he was carrying the toy I had found in the gallery. I told him I was glad he got his toy back. I asked him how old they were, he was six years old  and his sister was ten. The boy said his birthday was on the 27th December. I told him my nephew's birthday was also on that day. Indiana Jones

Today, I was working as a host at three graduation ceremonies from the same university. At the end of each ceremony, the orchestra they had on stage played the theme song from the film, "Indiana Jones", composed by John Williams. By the end of my shift, I had that song stuck in my head. On the way home, I stopped at this restaurant to get some food then walked to the bus stop  As the bus I wanted got cancelled, I decided to travel a different route, which took a lot longer.  When I finally got home, I had a quick shower. I then turned on my laptop to watch some mindless TV on this film channel. Guess what film they had on? "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Very funny, God! 😂 Of course, I had to watch it again, even though I've seen it a zillion times. I never get tired of Indiana Jones films or that theme song. ❤️

Jesus is Lord!

"...no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit." 1 Corinthians 12:3 ---- While I was relaxing in bed, I stretched one leg and I started feeling pain on my calf.   No, no, no! The pain quickly became a cramp. I called on the name of Jesus, but I could feel the pain getting worse. Just as I was about to get off the bed and put my foot down, I heard these words deep inside of me, "Jesus is Lord." I said the words out loud: JESUS IS LORD! The cramp immediately left my calf.
